Looking for a muzzle brake for the AR.

How about the AT15 Muzzle brake? The Eliminator doesn't look to have any porting to aid in muzzle control.

The Eliminator is NOT a device intended for muzzle control, it was designed and engineered strictly for flash elimination and is about the best on the market.
The AT15 muzzle brake was solely engineered to eliminate muzzle climb and again is 1 of the best on the market for that purpose. They do generate flash but in testing it on an M16 on full auto there is ZERO muzzle climb from a 30 round burst.

Its noticeable...but the base recoil isnt anything that bad to begin with. What I do like the best about the PWS CQB one is how quiet it makes the 10.5 barrel in directing the noise forward. The PWS regular brake was horrifically loud on the 10.5, so much so that shooting it indoors verges on not doable if its a confined closed area in the range.

I would not buy a brake and expect a massive difference, its there...but its more subjective. Proper grip, stance and perhaps adding a heavier stock might give you more of what you want...but I guess it depends on what you want?

I have the 14.5" barrel so I'm definitely not looking for something that's even louder than what I have now. With the stock LMT set-up the recoil is non-existent and muzzle control during quick shots is great. Just would like to make mine quiter.....*cough* suppressor...;)...:(.

I noticed a marked increase in the sound being directed downrange with the triad. Initially I wasn't to worried about muzzle control, mostly my shooting buddies (and my) hearing.

Now, this is on my non-res rifle, so when hunting a lot of shots are taken without hearing protection. The stock f/s installed on said non-res rifle was horrid. Enough that it got shot once and put back in the safe, only to be shot when hearing protection was available.

Once the triad was properly indexed (if it's a little sideways, the recoil will tell you), the recoil profile changed a little. My rifle went from a small jump, to a push. There was minimal muzzle rise, but felt recoil was a little more. Both myself and a friend noted this, but rapid strings were easy with both hands.

I vote get one. Questar has them for $~60.

Knight's Triple Tap and Battle Comp are what I prefer. They reduce muzzle rise without a huge fireball and are similar in size to an A2. Many other models with only 3 & 9 o'clock ports kick up a lot of debris when fired in unconventional positions. Obviously they are out of your price range but the Battle Comp isn't very expensive in the scheme of things.

And not even his at that, just another product (mine) he takes credit for, kind of like the TKS Engineering upper receivers from Brownell's that were "made" at ATRS.....

All I can really say to that is wow.... But, I`m really not that surprised.

Oh, I also agree with Big_Red on his choices.

I've been watching some videos on Youtube about comparing the A2 birdcage with different brakes/comps, and I can't see any difference in muzzle climb. Hard to justify spending money when you have no idea if it's even going to work.

I recently installed a YHM Phantom 5M1...

Compare to a conventional A2 it shoots a little more flat. Useful for rapid fire mostly as you stay on target a tad more. I think it does is job well.

For 30$... Hehe.

Yea go ahead guys! Buy 200$ comp/brake and still blame it on the device instead of working on your techniques and weapon handling...

:D

+1

Plus that... Anyone with a good handling will make it difficult to spot the differences. Rapid fire perhaps will start to show a little more of the benefits.

Wow, the thread kind of exploded over the past few days.

I decided to go with a Battlecomp 1 from OST. Sucks though that my upper will be done before it gets here so I'll get to see the difference between no brake and a good one.

Can't wait for this snow to go too..
