Hi everyone, finally decided to make a post after doing nothing but browse the site since I signed up, I've been reading various threads on the site but if anything I am just having more trouble on a decision.
I am wanting an inexpensive semi-auto .22LR, it will mostly be for plinking.
I am interested in;
Savage 64F
Mossberg 702
Remington 597
The Mossberg is particularly attractive due to it's low price, however I have yet to handle one because local stores don't seem to carry them often, if at all.
I like the Savage 64, seems well built like my Mark II BSEV. A friend of mine has a Remington 597 and I've enjoyed shooting it as well, but I've heard they can be finicky.
To anyone who owns any of these rifles, heck if anyone has a .22 not mentioned I'd love opinions. I know the 10/22 is widely considered the best .22, but for plinking cans, bottles, etc. would I REALLY be any better off using a $300 Ruger over a $150 Mossberg or a $200 Savage?
If you own any of these guns, particularly the Mossberg since I haven't heard much about them, I'd love to hear some opinions.
Thanks!
