I’d like to see a survey of current cartridges used by Scandinavian moose hunters. They likely used it because it was prolific and cheap, not because it was the best option.
BTW I’m a huge fan of the 6.5x55, even for moose.
They get some bigger moose in the area my Swedish friend hunts in. They ritually use a 6.5x55 or 8mmMauserAren't Euro Elk/Moose more along the line of the NA Shiras sub-species size wise?

And no it wasn’t a 50 cal black powder either.

Looks like Barnes makes a 647 grain hollow point as well, for the recoil sensitive

Your probably right, but it worked according to a late Finnish friend & coworker.
