Could you be a little more clear on that, where did you find the C of G was located, and do they sport auto ejectors?Win/64 said:You might want to try the used market. In my opinion those Stoegers swing like a 2x4.
Not sure what "the C of G was located"means? The Stoeger's just seem a little chunky to me.Levi Garrett said:Could you be a little more clear on that, where did you find the C of G was located, and do they sport auto ejectors?
In that price range for a new gun I'd look at the CZ line of shotguns. You might have to settle for extractors instead of ejectors but you'll get everything else you want.lyle c said:What would be the ideal side by side for under a grand? I'd like it to have auto ejectors, interchangable chokes and no english style stock. I'm not that old school.
Beg to differ sxs's like O/U's balance differently so they swing differently. I think too that the wide forend through me off I like a splinter forend. The dealer was Epp's in Orillia Ont.Levi Garrett said:Most certainly , I have held , shot, owned many side by side shotguns, over the years. Even the outside hammer jobs that fired both barrels at the same time if both were cocked. Its very hard to find a sxs thats messed up in the weight and balance department(maybe a really long barrel job), Now O/U guns are different, and require more care in design to get it right.
Oh , where was that dealer ? might want to give him a call???

So does that mean you are going to cancel the Stoeger you ordered? Now I remember what gun the Stoeger reminded me of. A Browning BSS (sxs boxlock) I had in the seventies seems the Stoeger was very similar. That gun is long gone now it was like a brick with barrels.Levi Garrett said:Thats Awesome Claybuster, please let me know where one can be had for under a $1000, I really like CZ , got many of their rifles.

Nice to see we finally agree on something ClaybusterClaybuster said:In that price range for a new gun I'd look at the CZ line of shotguns. You might have to settle for extractors instead of ejectors but you'll get everything else you want.
I agree with Win/64 about the Stoeger's. They don't handle as well as the CZ guns.
Please define slightly, , and where? Also the bobie white is english I think, not what the fella has in mind.beretta boy said:Gun for gun, the old Japanese-made Browning SxS's were vastly superior to the Brazilian-made Stoeger's.
I think you'll find the CZ SxS's are made in Turkey ... but I'm with Claybuster
... probably the best value for a SxS today, even if slightly more than $1000.
Make mine the 202B "Bobwhite" in 20 ga. with 28" barrels !
I'm sure we agree on many things we just haven't found them yet.Win/64 said:Nice to see we finally agree on something Claybuster. Cheers. Are the CZ guns actually made by CZ?
While Beretta isn't my favourite maker I certainly wouldn't say they were "junk".Levi Garrett said:Please define slightly, , and where? Also the bobie white is english I think, not what the fella has in mind.Just don't get a Beretta , their junk

I agree. They were vastly superior to the Stoeger's in fit and finish but again with that beavertail forend and rifle like stock they felt chunky, and slow to point.beretta boy said:Gun for gun, the old Japanese-made Browning SxS's were vastly superior to the Brazilian-made Stoeger's.
