I bought an NP-28 as my first handgun last winter. I have never regretted it. The only hicup is that it prefers round nose bullets. The 147 grain flat nose bullets got jammed up on every 4th or 5th. Since then I only use round nose bullets and have put more than 5K through her last her.
For me fit and finish was very good. I have since picked up a norc 1911 in .45 and if I compare fit and finish and appearance, the 'new' .45 looks like hell, and the 1 year old np-28 looks as good as a new colt.
Take my advice, buy the norc and be happy. Then you will have some money to buy another gun or 2. The np-58 really intrigues me.........
Oh ya, and I have since already picked up a SW model 4506, a glock model 20 (10mm), and a 22 pistol. I love them all but the 2 that get the most action or the 4506 and the np-28..
Later.............
