Hello all,

I recently purchased my first AR (a 20" Stag Arms) and I got a great deal on a free float rail forend for it today. I was originally pricing different rail systems out, but this one seemed like a great deal at the time, so I jumped on it.

I bought it from Dave's Surplus, and they told me it was a DLASK forend, last one, good deal kind of thing.

Now the thing is, there are no manufacturing marks on the rail that I can see. There were no instructions, and the only parts that I received were the rail itself (1-piece), the barrel nut (i think... it's the screw part with holes drilled into it) and a screw on collar? I'm not sure how to describe it. pics below.

Anyways, I'm looking to see if anyone can confirm for me that this is made by DLASK or has instructions or experience installing it. I've looked online and in this forum for instructions on how free float rails get installed. I feel semi-confident that I can install it without the bulk of specialised tools.

Quick question, is it still possible to remove the delta ring / install the new barrel nut without a barrel wrench / armourer's tool?

Thanks

Pat

The part with the holes in it is the replacement barrel nut. The small piece with the threads on the inside is a jam nut.

You have to remove the factory barrel nut, install the new one, spin the jam nut on the barrel nut, then install the FF tube. You use the jam nut to line up the rails correctly and to lock it in place.

Since you have to take the factory barrel nut off, just pull the barrel out of the upper to remove the delta ring.

I don't know if that's a Dlask, but it's very similar in design to a Yankee Hill tube. A barrel wrench will make the job much easier.

Edit: YHM instructions here.

You are going to need some tools. Proper vice blocks with insert, armourers wrench, hammer and punches at a minimum. With the right tools it is a 15min install. With the wrong tools it can be weeks to replace the parts that were ruined.
