Hi

I am trying to find info and a value on this gun. It is mechanically sound but has deep pitting in 1/3 of the barrel. It is a cartridge gun so that puts it well past the early fur trade days and into the last part of the 1800s or early part of the 20th century. No calibre marked.

By the proofs I would say made in Belgium for the French fur trade company. For trade or for use by their employees I do not know.

Any ideas?

I am researching it for a friend of a friend who inherited it and asked me, a gun guy for info. I do not want to disappoint but have not found info on the internet so far except for a few photos.

So-called Warnant action Flobert, made in Belgium. There were some Flobert action (hammer is breech block) pistols made for target shooting. This one is more serious.
Probably Revillon Freres sold them. I've never heard of, or seen one of these before, though.

There is(was?) the wreck of a Revillon Freres schooner on the south side of the inlet at Eskimo Point, west coast of Hudson Bay. Hull was double planked, outer layer was oak. Peeled some off to use for smoking fish.

i would think its .22 flobert . it should be marked under the lifting block. it could be as much as 9mm flobert. i dont think you will hurt it if you want to take the barrel off of it and see if it has any more markings.
you can look up more info under the name of parlor pistol.

i think tiriaq is right that it was made for and sold by revillon.

1893 or after, going on the proof marks we can see. Very nice! Revillon Brothers Trading Company was a competitor of the Hudson's Bay Company and was eventually bought up by them.

I have one just like that, 22 short rim fire (5mm rim) , also have a Flaubert rifle in 9mm rimfire , not that rare or valuable, gallery guns also, years ago seen more of them, and not much interest at that time, may be different these days, More work went into the nice wood than the actions
