Looking for information on Sig P320

Been hunting around the Sig site and various forums reading up on this gun, and have some questions.

I understand the .45 ACP version is a bit unique, but the 9mm / .357 Sig / .40 S&W share a lot of parts and are quite modular. Is there a document somewhere stating what exactly is and isn't exchangeable between these?

For example, if you look at the Calibre X-Change kits on the Sig site, they include a whole lot of pieces, not just the barrel and slide (for example they include the grip in each kit, but if you look the grip up separately the grip says it's for 9/.357/.40, so I'm not sure why it's needed in the Caliber X-Change kit?).

Anyway, aside from general interest, my specific question that got me headed down this path was the P320 RX full size model. Is it possible to buy a P320 RX and re-use the slide on the other calibers? It would be a great feature if the Romeo 1 sight could still be used when swapping calibers.

If not, are there plans for "RX" Caliber X-Change kits?

Bonus question - from my research I see the grips come in small/medium/large. Can the P320 be ordered in a specific grip, or does it come in a standard grip and then the desired grip ordered separately? If it only comes in a single size, what's the standard grip size and what's availability like on grips in Canada?

45 uses a larger trigger module I understand, and is not compatible with the 9/40/357 series. So, the grip is slightly different sized etc. The parts amongst the 40/9/357 fit each other if not exactly interchangeable (i.e. recoil spring for 9mm into a 40)

Romeo slide should work fine with regular 320's as long as it is in the 45 or 9/40/357 series respectively. I don't have first hand knowledge of this - I don't believe anyone does as they are not yet in hand in Canada. Barrel length for both is 4.7 in, though I see overall width for the Rx is 1.4 vs 1.3" for the 320 full-size - I suspect this is just due to the Romeo width. My understanding is that all of the 320's are interchangeable - you can go from compact to full size etc which is a big selling point for Sig. I have also read that the X-Five grip modules are not yet available - just the standard medium it comes with, though they have only just started shipping recently in the US.

AFAIK, all 320's come with a medium and you buy the other grip sizes if you need. Mine came with a medium and I've never seen anything else mentioned. Grips are available in Canada - I've seen them in a few places in store and online in Canada. They're not common as borscht but not unicorns either. FWIW, I had a M&P with an Apex DCAEK trigger kit and a Sig 226 previously but prefer the 320.

Anything other than the 45 can interchange. IE, 9mm>40sw, 357sig>9mm.

I believe 45 is on its own as the frame is different so that only a 45 mag can be inserted.

I had heard that the P320 .40/9/.357 could be caliber changed with just a barrel and mag swap (and not even a mag swap for .40 and .357), but then I saw the Caliber X-Change kits on the Sig site that include everything except the trigger group, and it has me second guessing that information. I've also read claims that a .40 barrel won't fit in a 9mm slide, but again hard to tell for certain, because as others have mentioned there aren't a lot of these in hand.

Would be nice if Sig Sauer would do up a document laying it out clearly what would work with what. You'd think that'd be in their best interest to promote the modularity.

If it's true you could have 3 calibers with a single slide (and single Romeo1), I'd be all over that.

If you'd need to use separate slides each with their own Romeo1 optic, that would make the case less compelling.

My understanding is that the calibre xchange kit includes slide, barrel, guide rod w/spring, mag and grip module. Fire control module is the registerable (serialed) part. Grip modules come in s/m/l for each type: compact/carry/full size. So, for example, you could buy the full size in 9mm w/ medium grip module (standard package) and a 357sig exchange kit which would leave you with two grip modules, one fire control module, two: slides, barrells, and guide rods w/ springs, plus 357sig mag. If the grip is the wrong size you can then buy a separate grip module in lg. or sml. Hence the modularity as all have the fire control module in common (one trigger, two calibres and grip sizes). The combinations are endless when you include the carry and compact (illegal in Canada due to barrel length). The Romeo sight complicates it all since the x change kits don't come with them. You would, therefore, have to get a separate sight fitted and zeroed for each slide since moving the reflex sight from one slide to another would require refitting, and re-zeroing on every calibre change.

The p320 comes with a standard size Medium grip. Extra grips and sizes can be ordered although I have personally only seen the medium green available approx $65/grip module.. I assume they will be more readily available sooner than later.

I stand corrected. It looks like they come standard w/ med. grip out of the box. Some think it's large, but most say it's the medium. I'm glad to hear it since I think it will fit my hand better. My P320 is still on the way btw.

The caliber x-change kits on the Sig site show the grip included. It looks like you'd end up with two of everything except the fire control module.

Maybe there's another kit you can get with less parts, but I don't see one.

I'd be interested to hear how the "medium" grip compares to the standard grip on a Sig P220 or P226 for size and feel. Local gun dealer can order in the P320, but don't have one to handle.

I'm wrong again. Though I don't see why you would want two grips the same size, unless you can specify the size. Good it comes with the mag too.

Why wouldn't you? If you can't order it with a different color grip, you could certainly paint it. At the very least you'd have a backup in case yours gets broken.
