the stock barrel on all but the "target" or the SR have skinny barrels on them. Also loose chambers. Not known for accuracy, and they look funny when put on built rifles.
the SR barrel is a nice compromise between light weight, cost and looks/function.
If you have lots of money, you can build a whole complete 10/22 that has zero Ruger parts in it. Or you can do 2 or 3 small but important mods to a completely stock one and enjoy it for years.
