Want to buy a short powerful lever action for going into the woods, something stainless synthetic, 16" barrel or less
Would prefer a 14 ideally
Capable of stopping anything that would want to stomp or maul me , 45-70 , 500s&w etc
I know about big horn model 89 and Taylor's Alaskan , wild west , and chiappa ridge runner, grizzly sbr.
Is there any other options out there?
Money isn't an issue, looking for something good and reliable.
Thanks!

What the hell did you see in your area that you are afraid of? Sasquach?

I think the BH Model 89 with a 18 inch barrel in 500 S&W could be the ideal candidate, i am working at making one mine. JP.

Lol.
More like bears , wolf and cougar... I've seen all of the above at my northern property , wife is going to retire and will be spending alot of time out there with horses. So wanted something short , compact and handy. Yet powerful , im sure a 44mag or 45lc with Buffalo bore would work too... but really liking the 500 , lots of power and more capacity

I would go with the 16" trapper, the single thing I don't like is no synthetic option for stock. I wanted as light as possible and laminate is heavy

Love my Chiappa Ridge Runner. The 12" barrel coupled with the Holoson 507 Gen2 green dot is extremely fast on target. I think the 3+1 capacity will deal with most issues. Generally in close up problems you're lucky to get off 1 or 2 shots. Only downside is they are not lightweights.

I've got a remote property, hike in only. North of Queen Elizabeth Wildlands. My goto is usually 12 gauge with slugs
