Looking for information on what to look for or stay away from in a .270. Any models that are highly recommended or ones to stay away from. What’s your go to

Rifles I'd consider if I was looking for something in .270 Win:

Pre '64 Winchester Model 70
Winchester Model 70 XTR
Remington 700 [BDL +/or CDL]
Tikka 695 or T3
Browning Abolt [composite or stainless stalker]
Husqvarna
Weatherby Vanguard

--------
NAA.

There's very few modern bolt action rifles that you should avoid. In any used rifles with wooden stocks watch make sure to inspect them carefully for cracking, often these can be found near the tang and bottom metal areas. Watch for really obvious signs of heavy wear but keep in mind that most hunting rifles are carried a lot and shot a little. I've purchased many older rifles for cheap that looked pretty rough but were in perfect working order and with some TLC they ended up looking good too.

If you want lightweight Kimber Mountain Ascent or Kimber Montana, Tikka T3x Stainless

Sako A7 a touch heavier but an excellent used option

Winchester Model 70 CRF is quite fitting for the 270 win, I like the late models made in Portugal

Bergara, Carl Gustaf 1900, Husqvarna H5000, Weatherby Vanguard or Late model Mark V
Older Remington 700, stay away from late model year SPS

Fierce carbon Rogue is a nice option.

Howa/Vanguard are about the best bang for buck new, well made rifles for the price.

I will agree 100% with you Hitzy, but a savy shopper can find some sweet deals in the EE.
I have owned several Vangards and they shot well...very well in fact (imo) and dollar for dollar a fantastic first rifle.
Only downside is they are heavier than comparable rifles.
Curious to see the direction the OP goes.

Great choice in cartridge! Good guns for the 270 Winchester are as follows: Remington 700, Winchester Model 70, Sako (any model, especially the older models), Howa, Vanguard. Try to purchase a rifle with a 24" barrel for added velocity, balance and less muzzle jump.

The 270Win is a great cartridge.

Avoid Savage Axis, Ruger American, Weatherby Vanguard, and any Remington other than the 700.

Do consider the Remington 700, Winchester 70, Sako (A2, A5, A7, 75, 85, 90), Tikka (558, 658, T3), H-S Precision, Husky, or Browning (Abolt, Xbolt).
