Looking to take a long range shooting course.

Turns out its much easier to take a course like this down south... Only issue is you have to be an american citizen or perm resident alien, and be of good character which is done by a police letter, or CPL (Concealed Pistol License) which I currently hold.
Crappy being with the dollar so low, but it'll be worth it next one coming up is in the Spring? Only issue is you need 400 rounds of ammo, and they recommend factory match grade ammo or FL sized due to conditions you're going to be shooting in (sand/dust/debris). So i'll either have to buy 400 lapua casings or 400 rounds of gold medal match....

Id be in for something. Was looking at maybe making a trip to Robs place in the fall sometime.

But if anything pops up around here that would be better.

Right now my little private range only goes out to 715, but I think Im going to move across the road where I found about 1200ish. Never ranged it.

I will second Rob Furlong's Marksmanship Academy, heard he is getting fairly busy. Only met him a couple of times but overall cool guy, not too far from where you are either.

Jeez boys the long range is right there in the middle of Saskatchewan. Look up the Saskatchewan Provincial Rifle Association's range in Nokomis dub dub dub saskrifle.com. It is firing points back to a measured 1200 yds with an eye-watering 1665 yds under specific conditions.

Join the SPRA and get on their F-class match schedule. If you want to learn, they will teach you.

I believe Rob Furlong is a good shot and I know that Keith Cunningham is more than qualified to give great instruction in both the Art and Science of long range precision practical shooting. I have no problem recommending a course given by these guys but if your after actual ability and not just a certificate for your wall your going to need a few years and a place to shoot and that is where our Provincial Rifle Associations can offer benefit.
So by all means take the course and have fun. Then if you really develop the passion to be a shooter join and learn from some of the best long range shooters in the world.

There is also MilCun in Ontario. they are highly recommended as well.Tactical Teacher can vouch for them.

Lots and lots of great advice here! :)

One of my most fielded questions at my clinic: "Should I take a course with Keith and Linda of Milcun, TDSA at Silverdale , Rob Furlong, or Bob Raymond ?"

My answer every single time, "YES!"

Just keep learning and punch outside of your comfort zone because that's where the best learning occurs!

Look back at the most important learning lessons/opportunities/experiences you remember most; did that happen when you were comfortable or when you were just on the edge or even beyond the border of THAT comfort level??? Be honest!

Life is about the journey and not the destination; Keep on learning!
