Love me hate me

I wish I had more stocks to refinish i have a ton of ideas of things i wanna try. Also you probably dont need the pre stain solution if its a hardwood stock will just make it stain quicker and darker faster.

Another easy way to stain laminate once you get it down to bare wood is to spray paint it your color of choice, say black. Let it soak in for a couple minutes, then wipe it off with a rag soaked in paint thinner. Repeat till you hit the desired level of stain, works real well on laminates with all he different layers of ply soaking paint/stain differently. Stain or shellac of boo after as needed.

Cool info didnt even think about that. I probably would stick with stain myself cause I have used it lots id need a stock I would be worried about wrecking to try the paint method.

Fair enough, try it on a piece of scrap cabinet grade plywood if you get a chance. It's easy, if you can use stain you can't screw it up lol. A cabinet maker friend of mine showed me this trick. He uses it on custom made hardwood frames he makes for artwork.
