^^ Depends on how much you are willing to spend on accuracy. If you are really into the platform and will always have an M1A in the herd, a JAE or Sage are sound investments.

I would hesitate to buy any of the "Gucci" stocks, until somebody actually posts proof of the improvements possible ( ie targets and groups )
Ergonomically and aesthetically the "Gucci " stocks are awesome, but that in itself doesn't justify the cost in my view.
The Archangel at around 350 bucks gets you an adjustable stock that can be built around, providing your into weight lifting (mines 14 lb 6 oz with an empty mag)
My chop job on the Norc stock comes in at 9lb all up..........and Im seriously considering get rid of the Archangel unless I can find a set of wheels for it :)

I noticed an improvement in accuracy from the archangel right away! Now I don't know if that was from the tighter fit? Or combo of cheekriser and comfort letting me shoot better? But a definite improvement over the norc stock!

I just bought a M14-S this week and The troy system looks awesome. But changing the furniture to look AR-ish doesn't mess with the classification? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Who sells the Choate folder in Canada?

no dealer for now.....

low cost, lightweight and ghetto to boot:
usgi fiber glass stock fitted with a S&J Hardware 870 to AR15 stock converter

You want light, fast handling, strong and cheep cheep?
You'll need a norinco plastic stock
A piece of 1/4x1 1/4" aluminum flat bar to make the grip mount
A stormwerkz ar180 adaptor
Drill and tap and 5- 1/4x20 x5/8" button head allen bolts
Some marine tex or goop marine epoxy paste.
Some sandpaper and some krylon
Oh, and a 1/4 x 28 tap, drill and grip screw to match.

Sounds confusin but.... If done right, your cheapest alternative to the high cost bling that's out there ;) certainly lighter by a long shot
I'd post a how too.... But that would make it way to easy for ya ;)

I've made a few for folks in the past and there is pics on cgn already. There's even some video I think. Hungry got one of the first ones, there are about 20 of em floatin around CGN.
Before anyone asks, no, I will not, under any circumstances other than for me and my close friends, make these for anyone hehehehe I'm only doin that stuff for fun these days.
I might show folks how it's done at clinics though ;)

Is this one? http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?886732-308-back-packer

LOL no way , that's wayyyy too bubba for my work LOL
Hungry did a review of the stock I'm talking about, maybe a little under a year ago here --»> http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?809730-Hungry-Review-of-the-ICR-(M14doc)-CQB-Stock-M14-M1A-Shorty
But again, I am retired so please don't confuse this as soliciting ;)
I'm making one for a buddy who is comin up bear huntin so maybe , I'll think about doing a step by step how to make your own norinco plastic CQB modstock. Takes a few hours, some tools are necessary and cost of parts and materials , including taps ect, , probably a little over 100.00 , assuming you have an exhisting chinese plastic stock to work with. It's a bombproof mod and easily the cheapest and lightest CQB type stock one could hope for ;)
Stay tuned for a new thread in a few weeks
