Low light pistol and carbine course, Abby F&G, 19-20 Jan 2013 and 23-24 Feb, 2013

haha yeah just bad timing with some other christmas purchases (new mk18 headed my way) and just put a scout light on my other carbine specifically for this course.

yeah but I'll need another x400 as my holster is made to fit my m&p with that light.

Remember...this is a "Low Light" course; note the course content.."pistol mounted light IF YOU HAVE ONE". This is about making do, and running your gun, whether your WML is functional, or not. Get it on, with your handheld, as well as your WML.
I learned w/ a handheld light, no mounts involved. Haven't run WML on my pistol, through a course yet.
IMHO, hand held is more technically demanding, and if you can do that, WML's are easy.

Besides, someone may have a spare WML, if you've got the 123's..

yeah no worries, I'll make it work. This year is about getting out and using all my gear and upping my proficiency. Was just bad timing more than anything. My kydex holster runs a little loose if the light isnt mounted, which is why I'm trying to get something to work. I can always switch to my ipsc holster if I cant get it fixed in time.

Man, I wish I could make this one, but I'm slated for another course at the same time.

I've got a Streamlight TLR-3 for my M&P with a Kydextech holster, and supposedly a TLR-1 to go on a MOE scout light mount on the ACR, and a Surefire G2X to back it all up. And lots of batteries...

^^Along with the TLr-1 for the Glock, I'm using Fenix LD12's for the carbines with an LD10 and a Surefire G2 as backups.

Ditto on the batteries. If you need more, MD Charleton has killer prices on Surfire CR123 Lithium's!

Anyone from the February iteration rather do the January one? The wife and I are on the January one and our unit decided to schedule a week end exercise on that week end. If anyone is interested in a switch let me know.

Surefire came through with a fast warranty replacement. (They were great actually, reinforces my decision for the surefire.)

All ready equipment wise with 2 weeks to go.

Question for you guys from Abbottsford! Im just planning on what sort of snivel gear to bring along. I gather we're under cover for day one, then outdoors for day two?

Count on outdoors for both both days- with the HVAC system on, on the indoor, it'll be chilly. Make sure you layer- it's going to be dry but cold, according to the long range.
Note the outflow winds suck, as they wrap around the mountain, headed to the Island....

Make sure to gear up. Clear means nice and sunny during the day, but cold (for Vancouver anyway) with no clouds to trap in the heat.

Do they have heaters out at the Abby range? Hand dexterity goes away pretty quick in the cold, I might grab some of those chemical heating packs you can get for snowboarding to stick in a jacket pocket.
