Looking at low power variable optics. I cannot find anything in the mid range. Most stuff is either 300 or $2k plus. Looking at some Trijicon. Found a USO SVS at a decent price but reviews of USO haven’t been favourable.

Anyone have some insight to a solid LPVO that won’t break the bank. Looking to shoot it on a 308 to 500m. Already have a SE 1-6x. Looking for something a bit better.

Are you looking for better quality or more power?

On both those topics, I have a Steiner 1X4, and a Eotech Vudu 3X18, all in, that $1000 to $1800 range, depending on if you want "new" or "used".

The Primary Arms 1-6 is good for the price, I prefer the SFP version rather than the FFP raptor version.

The steiner p4xi is good also but it seems we pay a premium north of the boarder.

The trijicon 1-4 (tr24 I think) has great glass but the reticle options leave something to be desired if you want to use it at 500.

If you can spring for it and are willing to watch the EE for awhile you might snag a Kahles k16i for $1800 of even possibly less in a couple months. They are a outstanding lpvo, SM1 would be my first choice, G4b would be second and the 3GR last although I’ve had all three and they all do work to get hits out to 600. If your planing to not use the illumination much the 3GR would be fine, they really messed up with having the second dot lit thou.

A LPVO that punches WAY above its weight is the Sightron S3 / STAC 1-7X.

I have two, a newer STAC and the older S3. Glass clarity is excellent on both and they are SFP.

I'm thinking of letting one go as it was to be a 3 gun scope but I ended up picking up a Trijicon and the reticle works better for 3 gun.

Drop me a line if you want to know more.

I didnt think Primary arms was decent but I have never touched one either.

Don't let the name fool you. These are great quality scopes with exceptional glass.

EDIT: Bushnell has a 30% rebate promotion starting April 1st. Would make the price of this quite attractive.

Think vortex pst but speced with better glues and QC. The ACSS is a nice reticle also.

Simple but effective. One of my favourites.

I've heard it said that Vortex and Primary Arms are made in the same factory, don't know if thats true but having owned an LPVO from each I could see it.

Yes, I’ve heard from good sources that this is true. I’ve also heard from the same sources that PA specs better materials and tolerances where vortex has a different approach where they focus on keeping their price low enough that they can just throw new ones at anyone that has a issue. This is the lower end vortex stuff I’m taking about.

IMO a Swaro Z8i with a ACSS reticle would be the tits. Only thing i might change is make the chevron smaller and just have a dot on the tip for illumination.

For a really budget conscious trick, just run a Vortex Spitfire 1x prism (about $280 used) and forget the $1000 LPVO and its $150 mount.
