how we doing so FAR ? RJ

You're well on your way to building a beautiful rifle that will come in a hair under 5lbs bare. Nothing really stands out as groundbreaking as it seems to be the tried and tested blueprint to an ultralight M7.
When you choose to sully that beautiful new rifle with that terrible turd of a scope you will be under 6lbs using talley lows.
You will not, however, see your goal of 6lbs loaded and a sling made from shoelace.

Your choice of components is great and I love to see you buying Canadian, but you can do so much better than that dark #####y little Leupold. ;)
Some things just aren't worth the compromise.

If it were all about cost we would all be shooting a Savage Axis in 30-06 with a 4X Tasco stoked with factory WW Power Points....get a grip....:)

I do have a grip, but not around an Axis !!! Indeed, it's not all about cost. Agreed.

Sound advice Boomer...especially the part about custom rifle resale...that always stings.
Your guess on the Model 20 is bang on plus/minus an ounce!
It's hands down the best balanced and behaved sub-6lb short action I've had to date, and before it their were many from most of the factory offerings to full custom. About the only UL I haven't played with is the Weatherby but I have heard good things about them.

Don't those stripes painted on the stock add an extra gram ? ..LOL

So, what's wrong with his choice of scope... Do you have a better one in mind ??
I have had two of those for years.... they serve me well...

Anyone else think a sub 6 lb mountain rifle should be sans sling? Slings add unnecessary weight when every ounce counts and the rifle stays on your pack until a stalk is made.

They most certainly do.
In the past I even went so far as to run an un-painted Mcmillan edge just to save grams on one of my other UL's. :p
Watch your Cerakote folks, adds junk in the trunk.
Haven't filled a hollow buttstock with Helium yet though...now that would be groundbreaking!

Its a M600 action with a M7 trigger ( redone to crisp 2 lbs) and a M7 hindged floor plate unit in a Brown Kevlar pounder stock - It has a RKS 10 twist SS 22 " barrel chamberd in 284 WIN . The action is slabbed both sides - the bolt is spiral fluted and has a LW pin and shroud . barrel and action are Gun Koted . Scope is a 3.5 - 10 x 40 Leo VX3 with B&C reticle housed in Talley LW hand lapped rings . I kept the oringinal DOG leg bolt beause its KOOL ! LOL Total weight is 6 lbs ! I am terrible with pics - and NOT very Smart but i will try soon ! RJ
