LWRC SMG45 PDW Leaked...

care to explain the Dlask arms pump action AR and it's restricted ruling

Because the action doesn't matter. Just like the Troy PAR-15 will be a Restricted AR variant when they get here.

Yup. Because an AR upper will fit to it and fire one round. It won't cycle because of that buffer tube issue, but it will fire with an upper attached.

I may be mistaken, but I don't think an AR upper can be assembled onto a 15-22 lower. I don't think the pin spacing is the same. Maybe after 10 minutes with a hacksaw and a few feet of duct tape you could make it fire 1 round.

Dlask upper and lower does not work with any other though which was a reason just posted for why the modern hunter was made NR, but that NR status is also not set in stone(still under review)

Not all AR10 upper and lowers are interchangeable either. But there are plenty of AR10 variations that meet the automatic restricted status because of their upper/lower design features.

The Modern Hunter will be non-restricted. The reason they only gave the prototype a NR status with the caveat that the production version would be pending is that a rough prototype was sent in. The prototype was far from a functioning gun, and was not completely finished. It was a rough milled upper and lower only. The lab gave it a caveat in that it could have finishing work done, but any major redesign would require a new examination and status evaluation.

Modern Hunter classification submission...

(There was a pic, can't find it now but it was almost looking like a 90% lower upper build... no finishing work, no flared mag well, etc)

And production version...

Has anyone, via class action or other, be it individual or through the NFA or CSSA, challenged the RCMP's assertions via the courts?
I think I already know the answer (no), so until that happens, the firearms lab will continue to make the call as they interpret the law, and/or see fit.

Or we could just get the Firearms Act changed.

The lab gets its authority through the Act. The classifications are made through the wording of the Act. Etc Etc.

We could keep going after the symptoms, or we could go after the cause.

That looks pretty darn cool. I'm usually not a fan of pistol caliber carbines but this thing looks ###y.

And, yes, the entire Firearms Acts requires scrapping. Not tinkering, or tweaking, but scrapping. The RCMP has shown that it cannot be trusted to even tie its own shoelaces. The last thing we need is them "interpreting" our rights into oblivion.

There is no legal recourse available under the current Firearms Act. This is a big reason why the NFA has lobbied so ardently for the Conservatives to keep their promise to repeal and replace the C-68/C-17 Firearms Act in toto. Incremental reforms, as advocated by others, will ensure that these issues will remain unresolved for decades to come, or at least until the next anti-gun Liberal/NDP government is elected and they finish what their predecessors started.

I'd totally be in for a 9mm version.

It will be a few years before this gets here for sure, it's already gonna take a while before it hits the U.S. market.
