Old and slow is one thing but bad at math is another 
I think if you want to match dollar for dollar you are looking at 3 or 4 Norincos for the price of a Springfield.
BTW how did you get your issued rifle as a civilian? And are you in the states?

You guys are the ones telling me that the extra money is a waste. Forget the dollars you were ripped off. You got to try and salvage some value. You want the best rifle you can have so when a guy offers two for an inferior US made copy you should jump all over it.

Umm, gee why don't I just go and buy 2 rifles for cheaper than your proposed trade value? Or sell the Springfield to someone else and go buy 4? I guess these are dumb ideas, your deal sounds like better sense.

no, but that's why i consider it as PURE LUCK- it was seconded to israel, then surplussed, and then back into my greedy little hands- you NEVER forget your rifle's serial number , same as your service number- they could have charged a million bucks for that gun and i'd have paid it- oh yea, it's a REAL M14- funswitch welded shut when i got it back

Got me there Santa. I've handled Norinco's briefly. The finish was enough to make me gag. You see I don't own any junky firearms, well there is that old cooey 22. It is in great shape though. My worst M1 Garand is nicer than the best I've seen here. Appearance counts.
Back to trying to discredit me with the perceived racial hatred thing hunh? When I criticize china for making poor replicas with underpaid labor it is exactly their system I talk about. It is not condemnation of the people. This is not my only hobby/pastime. We see the exact same thing in RC aircraft. Inferior materials and workmanship. It's caused a number of the older quality manufacturers to go under. Some people will buy strictly by price tag. Me, I'll pay $100 for a bottle of good Scotch even if it is only slightly better than a $50 bottle. You see I'm worth it.
I'll try to make this as simple and clear as I can for you. If it was not made as a US M14 by one of the originally contracted companies it is not one. Once again I am not calling my M1A one and neither do they.

Norinco is just a shooter. Don't hang it on the wall, it's embarassing. Anyone here would have a Springfield if they could/would cough up the cash. As I posted before, enjoy them but don't build them up to be something they are not.

- Trigger group.
- Gas cyl/piston.
This is by far my favourite rifle I have ever had and yes I do own a Springfield as well.

Hey... I have 3 rifles here, nonresricted, and the manufacturers model designations are clearly stamped NORINCO M14
No's' at the end, no m305 ..... Just plain ol M14
Of particular interest is the reggie certs... Under model it clearly states M14
So.... I do realize these are clones made in china and not true US M14 RIFLES

t-Star, let me say I am aware that you have quite a number of M14 and clone rifles. Your goal is clearly to own a variety so I never expected to entice you with the offer. Your ownership of them entitles you to the opinion you hold. Own and enjoy them all. I've said that right through.
Klaus, obviously I am your single biggest pet peeve. You have taken some time to compile what I have said and made it your mission to dwell on it and point out the fine points in my grammar. If I have made you uncomfortable I apologize for that. It was never my intention to do so but having said that allow me to have my opinion. You don't need to agree.
Francisco, I am not trying to instigate anything. I have an opinion that is unpopular and therefore not accepted. So that means I should not voice it? I believe in your post you are if indirectly calling me unintelligent and immature. Is that not a violation of exactly what you say? Does a clever choice of wording make you immune from it?
The reason I came on this site was to utilize the resource to find some things I wanted and tap the information and experience here. If you look at the battle rifles section the line following it says unintended advertising for Norinco. How true that is. It offends me that this Company has named its product after what I like to think is the best 308 battle rifle when it is only a cheap knockoff. Do some shoot fairly well? Groups are like fish stories in that their sizes are exagerated. There are not that many people who can shoot an inch at a hundred yards with iron. I believe there is a lot of false pride when it comes to these firearms.
This is a battle I can't win so with that I'll withdraw and concentrate my effort here to do what I set out to. In fairness to you all I will allow you to revel in your ownership of these firearms without my input as I should have done from the beginning.
