M-305 & SKS special....

You guys and your deals, is the goal to arm everybody? haha. This is awesome though, if I didn't already own an M305 i'd be on this in a second.

and you don't want a second one, why???

actually, reading of all this anticipation and excitement (especially from 45ACPKING) and seeing the pic's of new rifles, I WANT a new one too (but I already have two!)

You just may have the "holy grail" of a properly indexed barrel right there.
More rare than common, from my understanding

Here is a quick pic of mine. It seems to be pretty darn close. Looking forward to getting it to the range again today!

Sorry...I haven't read all 15 pages to see if this is mentioned, but what's the SKS like? New? Nice finish? Good stock? If I can order this combo and flip the SKS for $100+, it will make having a THIRD M305 not quite so bonkers...

The machining is rough, the bolt is not polished, the wood is really soft and the cutting job on the stock is terrible. It's a good shooter, definitely nothing to show off though. Can't complain for a $75 firearm.

Do you have a Russian SKS to compare with?

I have a Russian $250 and a Yugoslav SKS $420 they are marginally better. They are not art pieces. They were never meant to be. They shoot well at around 200 m. At $75 the Chinese SKSs are a bargain.

Yep, I have one laminate and one hardwood, both Tula. Russian SKS's are art when comparing them to their Chinese counterparts.

I got my M305B on Friday.
The indexing and the front sight seem fine to me.
Yes the finish and edges are a bit rough as expected, but the overall quality is good and I am very happy with the purchase. I will def get another one.
I'm going to get the m14.ca CASM gen II scope mount and a 1-4x scope, a bipod, and probably a new stock.
I'm looking forward to learning this platform, its my first.

Yes,,the Chinese sks is new and its in good shape,,all numbers matching etc. No complaints. Looks like a keeper.Ill buy yours for $100 no problem Tengoo. :)
(Still havnt had time to clean either gal yet)

Thanks John!

I picked up mine yesterday. The only issue I see is my front site is over to the left but my barrel indexing is good. The M305 is a bargain at this price! The SKS is as advertised, new issue, matching numbers. Ignore the date stamp on the pics, I have given up resetting it every time I change the battery.
For you experts out there, what is the best option when trying to get the front site straight? I don't mind keeping the existing site as I will probably scope it later.

I am very happy, thanks John!

If indexing is good and yer sight is tilted , either replace the flash hider as the dovetail base might be outta whack.
On mine the front sight itself is outta wack and I'm replacing it with a newly arrived springfield M1A sight from Brownells. I also picked up a BM59 rear sight from EE and might install that when it arrives but so far, after cleanin and greasing, the issue ones seem to work as they should.

Got mine today. I would rate the SKS 9/10 for a full priced gun but for $75 its a home run. The barrel looks indexed correctly but the sight is a hair to the side. Oh well. Its getting a scope anyways. Thanks Marstar great hard case too!!

What is wrong with the SKS that makes you think it is only a 9/10?

It has a couple slight dings in the stock. It is a pretty darn nice rifle though. Its my 4th sks so I know what to expect. For 90% of the people out there they would call it 10/10. But in my eyes it just isnt perfect. Not complaining but relaying what I see.

Just ordered mine on Saturday, very exited! just out of curiosity what were Ontario waiting times from order placement to arriving at the door?

I am very happy with both the M305 and the SKS.
Both at the 100 yard range today...and, oddly, although like many others here, my front sight is about 75% to the "right", the rifle was shooting to the left! About 4-6 inches at 100 yards. And once I moved the rear windage over a few notches to the right, was dead on. (?) Well, except it was a few inches low, so at 100 yards, I ended up with it at "3" which I assume means 300 yards?

Surely this means I can experiment with putting the front sight back to the left, so that my rifle shoots right with the windage centered??

When all was said and done, I started shooting 4-6" groups, free standing, clustered around the bulls eye, which for me is great - I'm very happy. I love this M305 - no Mosin Nagant bruise even after 50 rounds! It's a heavy firearm - the SKS felt like a 22 when I picked it up after for a few more shots. I'll be getting a bipod, just figuring out the best kind to use. I have lots of barrel-mounts, might try something a bit more robust though...have to see what folks are using?

I can't help wondering if there isn't some other odd reason for so many front sights off to the right - even the guy who says his is off to the left, it's off to the right, lol...

At any rate...cheap Norinco surplus, not a single failure...and my charging handle, which had seemed a little stiff, even after some greasing, now pulls back seamlessly.

My first Marstar experience has been a good one indeed, thanks guys.

Thanks, Brownells it is.
