M-305's noisy???

To all m-305 owners,

I am seriously considering purchasing this rifle and will possibly be doing some heavy-cover deer hunting with it. My question is are these rifles "noisy" when carried???. Do they have any inherent creaks or magazine rattle?. Are M-305's generally nice 'n' tight or a little on the loose side??? ;)

I keep the original canvas sling tight until I need to carry the gun with it. It doesn't rattle or make any noise when tightened up. My M14 Norinco has taken 2 whitetails so far. I hunt heavy brush in Ontario where most shots are under 100yds.

It’s silent as can be.

It took me some practice to remove the safety without an audible "click".

It takes some practice but you can do it.

A bit of black hockey tape on the sling swivels, a soft shim on the hand guard quiets any rattles down without much fuss.

I screwed up one solid chance last fall chambering a round... :redface: Action is noisy as hell; if you make it s l o w l y, make sure give it a good kick forward in the end, to lock bolt properly (that's was another chance I screwed up :rolleyes: ) but after those two lessons learnt I've got a nice four pointer and a doe to fill my freezer! :D
 
I use a can of "Squeak be Gone" on it and it's really quiet. In fact, I spray it on the soles of my hunting boots and can sneak right up to those pesky deer without them hearing me!
 
a couple of patches in the cleaning kit eliminates most of the noise from there esp the stem for the cleaning rod- of course, if you find it too noisy, take it out and put it in your pack-

Yeah, it is noisy as hell to chamber a round. I usually carry mine loaded with the safety on when I am hunting alone...not the best practice, I know, but that's what it takes to being home the meat.
 
I'd bin the USGI sling, its garbage. Go for a good 3 point or none at all, I think Dave's sells a 3 point. I'm thinking about picking on up myself, not so much for slinging the rifle on the move, I like to keep the rifle at the ready. Its just preferable to be able to push the rifle back and out of the way when its slung so you can do things with your hands as needed but still be able to quickly draw and fire. I have a blackhawk 3 point on my remi 870 and I love it.

I use a butler creek comfort stretch sling on mine.

Get a good sling as they are heavy with the mount and scope on it.

The sling swivels are the only noisy part of the gun.

Maybe I'm confused but I have never hunted without a round in the chamber. I can't even imagine trying to lever the action on my
Winchester without scaring the crap out of any deer within a half mile. I even carry my Win 94 on half #### because the click of a full #### will scare them in close quarters.

My bolt action 30-06 that I have taken out a couple times, same thing. Its noisy as hell to cycle the action on any rifle.

I have never heard anywhere in any of the hunting safety guides that you should hunt with an empty rifle then load it when you see a deer. Where did this come from?
