M and P Compact 107MM Barrel

Just an update. I did a deal for a Walther Navy Model. I talked to my 'smith and he will do the barrel for me. I intend to have it cut to106MM. That length will have the barrel sticking out slightly. I have the M2 5" and the PPQ Match. For competition I will have only two legal mags. I primarily shoot IDPA so, until I get a 3rd compact mag I will be limited to 21 rounds. I should be ok with that given the max shots on a stage is 18 and my experience has been I seldom go to my 3rd mag anyway. If the gun arrives late next week I should have my package ready by mid June which is about the time things will be opening up a bit here in BC.

I got the Navy for less than I would have paid for the Smith. i'll post pics once the gun is circumcizer. Life is good.

Well the PPQ Navy came today. No evidence, looking at the mags, that the gun has even been fired. It has because the owner told me it was. The gun is as new. I spoke to my gunsmith and he will nip the barrel to 105.5MM on Friday while I wait. There is an IPSC club shoot on Sunday and if the weather is nice I may use the gun in Production Division for giggles.

For those are unaware the "Navy" model has a frame that uses the standard PPQ M2/Match mags so the grip is the same size as the larger guns. The frame/slide is 1" shorter than the 5" guns. The 105.5MM barrel will stick out of the slide a bit but not as aggressive as the pimple on the G19. I may get my favourite holster maker to make me a IWB holster for the gun. The gun fits in the IDPA box for CCP however the factory barrel on the Navy is 4.6". Max barrel length is 4.25" for the Division. I'll be golden at 105.5MM.

Well the itch is finally scratched.

os Ranch Products sent me two moon clips to test in my Ruger GP100 using 40cal cartridges. They are 40 thousands in thickness. They should ensure 100% ignition using 40cal brass. Won't know until tomorrow. Watch for a new thread on the subject.
