Why don't we reserve judgement until there is something to judge? Wanstalls does right by us, I trust them to not change that

This. People are freaking out with no cause. Speculation on speculation, lets just wait and see.

Right off Wanstal's web site
{cancelled deposits will be transferred to store credit.}

Customer cancelled, this won't cut it if there were shenanigans, which I don't think and hope isn't the case.

BINGO. Don't give a fvck what their website says.
I paid for something at that price and if they want to change that price then way different story

Wanstalls can't change for an higher price on pre order, the deal is SEALED but maybe it will cost more in the future....

If this were available in 5.56 I’d be interested even at a higher price. But in 7.62x39, I wouldn’t expect many to sell even at $1600.. That is the tipping point for me, it’s just not my caliber of choice. At $1449, well even sick me can’t turn that down.

To each his own, I enjoy shooting 7.62.39 wayyy more then .223. Everytime i fire a .223 cal rifle it reminds me of driving an automatic car. Borrrring!

Nice to see more modern rifles on thr market in 7.62x39

I suspect the preorders were stopped as either Wanstalls set out the preorders to try and force the issue of a lower price from M+M through showcasing high demand which didn't work; or M+M backed down on the set price with Wanstalls after being reminded of their earlier commitments by the other dealer.

Shady tactics on behalf of both Wanstalls and M+M. If they don't honour the current price rest assured I won't be dealing with either in the future as I hold both equally responsible for this avoidable mess in which the consumer has been used as chicken feed. One would have though after the lukewarm reception their rifle received in the US, M+M would want to be aggressive to try and secure a foothold, and build some credibility, for their new platform in a relatively easy market before relaunching themselves in the US with a more refined product.

For the record, I have handled and shot the AR stock version of this rifle in the US. It's a decent rifle but didn't stand out in any area and leave much of an impression as a rifle that I would go out of my way to buy. But that did not stop me from pre-ordering as I am a sucker for new rifles in Canada :p

As a point of reference, the XCR is MILES ahead in fit and finish and refinement and the Vz.58 has a pedigree that is hard to compete with. The only thing this has going for it is the uninterrupted top rail and the relatively decent machining when compared against some of the crude AK kit jobs in the US. I didn't find the accuracy to be any better or worse than any of the other service rifles although my time time was limited to an afternoon.

I love here on CGN that certain people play one dealer against another to cause panic. Reminds me of a company that called North Silva screaming the world was ending due to Canadian tire selling tavors at cost(1700). Or the time I was going to flood the market with seacans of cheap surplus at cost plus 2% and my inbox got filled with hate because I revealed the price of surplus ammo landed in Canada and made dealers look like the theives some of them really are.
I'm on the pre order, I'm going to see how this works out. I also have a type 81 on the way and one of those semi 308's from nea/bcl. I have lots of money to spend...let see who will keep my business.

Wow, some people around here are quick to get out the pitch forks and light the torches......

Just over the Thanks Giving long Weekend, we've gone from being mostly stoked on a new product to our small market to now some people calling for a potential boycott of a quality retailer and a new to our market manufacturer.

Pretty sad alright. I've dealt with Wanstalls lots. Total reputable dealer. Sure is a a lot of cry babies and trolls here

It is pretty funny. Dont get me wrong Ill be pretty upset if I dont get a rifle the end of December for $1449... but it seems yhe ones behind the scenes have all said this will be sorted out starting tomorrow... so lets give them that at the very least. I've joined the M+M Facebook group. I think we all should as it is relatively small and the more Canadians that arrive the more influence we may be able to take. My 2 cents.

We need to wait and see what both parties' official word is

How dare you speak with logic after a cgn thread has degrated into hysteria and paranoia after twenty pages! Lol

Seriously though guys almost every forum thread i see longer than 7 pages on here always falls apart to something sad. Some of you guys are drawing conclusions like paranoid husbands when the wife comes home 5 minutes late.

How about we wait for wanstalls to give an update on the preorder? I highly doubt a solid business like wanstalls (or any business for that matter) would open a pre order and set a price before speaking to the manufacturer/distributer and setting a price there.

That being said if something does go down and the preorder price does increase then I'm out, i like wanstalls but business is business

Wanstall and M&M would be a little crazy if they decided to up the price over the original pre order quoted price, that price is about the max that riffle could sell for,i mean it's not exactly H&K or Sig qualityhere,LOL.any more than that and you might as well spend a few more dollars and get a real high quality unit, jacking the price would just make them look like thieves taking advantage of customers, and as far as keeping customers deposits who cancel, and turning them in store credits, good luck with that, one call to the credit card issuer and that gets fixed real quick,i would think it's more than likely stay in the same price range,if they want their riffle to actually sell.
