You are correct, pretty much everyone would prefer this gun.

I doubt that - it's a pretty subjective thing. Not everyone wants a red rifle that looks like a black rifle. Just like not everyone think's it's a good idea to put NCSTAR parts on their SKS.

Which brings another point - should this rifle, made and marketed by a company who makes AKs, not be in the Red Rifle Forum?

The parent company is Romanian, though I suspect some significant percentage of these new rifles is made in the USA to get around import restrictions (i.e. the 922r 10 part rule).

The rifle says "USA" on the aluminum upper receiver cover, not "made in the USA". Typically this means "assembled" in the USA or "partially assembled in the USA with foreign and domestic parts". If it was made in the states, it would say so on the rifle, as that sells guns in our patriotic neighbour's territory.

Why do you have to rain on everyone's parade? If you don't want one, don't buy one. The fact that other people are excited for this rifle shouldn't ruin your day.

It's not ruining my day. It's in the wrong forum (in my opinion), and I'd like to see it offered in other configurations so I can get excited about owning one too :)

FWIW, I think this offering at $1400 will cause some other rifles to re-think their pricing schemes - which is a great development IMHO.

Most manufacturers rarely get everything 100% right on the first go. And even it it seems perfect for 95% of the community, there will always be people that the rifle does not check the boxes for. I think its a great looking rifle that shoots an inexpensive caliber for an affordable price. At $1500 most everyone can afford to get into one of these. I hope you're right and it brings down the prices of the other NR black guns.

This rifle is getting quite the response, After the news broke yesterday I already have 3 friends on the pre order who normally wouldn't do such things. Its catching the eye of shooters across the board. I've also never seen threads blow up as quick as they have for this rifle before.

Hmm... so the M&M shot video, their rep says "100% american made", which if true, makes their decision to not write "made in USA on the rifle somewhat puzzling to me.

In any event, they talk about using a bullet tip (only) to reverse the charging handle - that's a well thought-out feature IMHO, especially if you are sharing the rifle between multiple ppl.

they also say "fully nitrided barrel on the Elite version" - it's not clear if that means the cheaper Zhukov version Wansalls is importing will also be nitrided - one can hope.

I believe the barrel is fully nitride. On their main webpage for the only M10x that they currently sell (and ours shouldn't be any different apart from the barrel length) it says 4150 nitride steel.

Really looking forward to this one.

The elite version was the first gen they did which they don't even seem to offer noelw.
The new enhanced version is the one with all the magpul stock/grip on it and redesigned take down lever.

I am out. nice price gouging m+m. throwing your dealers under the bus and shaft us at the same time.

According to the interwebs, the Elite version remains in limited production - they do a run per year. It has some kinda fancy recoil reduction mechanism in the stock and comes with cheap metal BUIS. Evidently enough ppl prefer it that they still have them for a premium price.

EDIT: Wantsalls just removed the $1450 pricing from their posts about the M10X - they now only mention a $250 down payment and there is some interesting discussion on the CanAm forum over who has importation rights. Interesting.

EDIT2: The Wantsalls web store still lists a $1449.99 total price. (Oct 8, 16:15 EST).

Looks pretty awesome! But I got a T81 coming and like Claven2, I do sortof prefer my x39 guns in the classic cold war commie kindof look..... Super cool to see another x39 gun gain NR status in Canada tho!

$1500 is a good competitive price, but at $2400 or whatever the talk is now, forget about it!

What are you talking about? Wanstalls is selling them preorder for 1449$ and committing that price to preorders when you put your 250$ deposit, they can't change their minds and say the gun is 2500 in 2 months, thats not how sales works. If they did that they would be dead to me, and to a whole lot of other firearms owners in the community.

If you want one for 1449 go to the Wanstalls site and preorder one now.

I don't see what the issue is here.
