What are you talking about? Wanstalls is selling them preorder for 1449$ and committing that price to preorders when you put your 250$ deposit, they can't change their minds and say the gun is 2500 in 2 months, thats not how sales works. If they did that they would be dead to me, and to a whole lot of other firearms owners in the community.

If you want one for 1449 go to the Wanstalls site and preorder one now.

I don't see what the issue is here.

He is talking about the market price estimate given by the company that did the leg work and got the sample to the lab for classification. Canada Ammo. They are listed as the importer on the frt. No one else.

Now the free market is taking a run at it after that leg work has been put in. I'm sure IRG will also be bringing them in now that the frt info is public.

Unless wanstalls is a dealer for Canada Ammo.... which I doubt.

The importer is saying something differently now.

Yeah you might be able to get one at $1500 currently, but if the pricing issue isn't worked out then future orders will be priced too high to have much of a market IMO.

I can't honestly see Wanstalls setting up a pre-order without having secured a source of the rifles at a fixed dealer price point below $1450. They are an experienced and established Canadian retailer with a positive reputation to maintain. It doesn't seem to much matter who does the leg-work these days, there is always a competitor waiting in the wings to scoop a better deal. Just look at the FAMAE rifles and the SIG EVO for proof of that. Regardless of whether Canada Ammo thought they had the inside track on distributorship, that would appear to be no longer the case. Otherwise they wouldn't have been caught flat-footed by the Wanstalls announcement, as was clearly the case in the Canada Ammo thread on the subject. Seeing as I have no particular loyalty to either vendor, I have entered into a sales contract with Wanstalls for a M10X at a fixed price with delivery in Dec 17. We shall see, but I have no reason to doubt that Wanstalls will come through.

I sure am happy that I avoided the temptation of the T81. Having owned several Norinco AKs back in the day and judging by the recent photos, the T81s look to be the typical Chinese combination of sharp internal edges and mediocre, rust-prone salt-bluing. All packaged in a retro design that won't even mount an optic, let alone an illuminator. No thanks - the 1980s were "Meh" the first time.around!

The canadaammo thread has certainly gotten interesting. First CA posted they had an exclusive distributorship deal, and they explained how they had a $2400 price. They they edited most of their post away and are saying much less, claiming they will reveal more after talking to M&M on next Tuesday.

It looks to me like they got awful pricing from the OEM, and a handshake promise of exclusivity, but now the OEM is undercutting CanAm and selling to competitors for nearly half price.

Dog eat dog.

Can't say that for certain YET. The t81 may prove to great guns.

Glad I didnt go for a T81 but kinda sucks that I pulled the trigger on a restricted Vz58 2 weeks ago... There will be an M10X in the safe though :p

I was told by M+M that they never had a exclusive distributor for Canada, and that they are working but are at the hands of authorities. Canada Ammo seems upset that the "other" dealer went and beat them to a pre order. The other dealer obviously was involved in bringing this rifle up here and wont just do a pre order without knowing what they are able to get them for.

It's clear who was there first. The RCMP lists can am as the submitter and distributor in the FRT.

WA and any deal with M+M was clearly not disclosed to CanAm and were I them, I would be pretty upset that they covered all overhead and were kneecapped, undercut, and beat to market by an 11th hour party.

Id be upset too, but we do live in free capitalist market.... the end result of said market seemed to only benefit us, for once!

I love Can Am and have nothing but good things to say about Wanstalls. Hopefully when the dust settles this week there will be winners on all sides, including us!

I jumped on the presale, and am now eagerly searching for videos! Cant wait!

As much as I like the design of M10x and I pre-order one for myself but you can't compare it to a 30 years old battle proven design of type 81. There are flaws in them but they have been long enough to prove it and many little countries are using them until now.

the simplest explanation is often the truth:

M+M cost to dealer has always been around 1100ish, someone tried to put a 1300$ margin without understanding someone else would be happy with a 350$ margin.

that sounds like a pretty damn plausible explanation to me

Well canam bought and imported one gun and sent it to the lab. Of that we know for sure. Whatever else was in the background is unknown.

Buying a gun and importing it is not proof of an exclusive importation deal with the manufacturer.

I would believe this theory

No, but they posted it was the case - unless they are lying.

I would be all over this rifle, if I hadn't just bought a non-restricted CX4. As it is I'll let you fellas work out the bugs with this new platform while I enjoy American made ammunition out of a ten round magazine, and bolt action reliably in 7.62x39 from my CZ527.

$1500.oo is a fair price though...
