Well TDC I have some serious news for you. We don't give a rats a$$ how prepared you are to accept the consequences of your actions. We aren't! That is just one reason why many ranges insist on being cold ranges, why IDPA insists on it for Sanctioned Matches and why some guns come with external safeties.

You see you accepting responsibility for harming someone isn't the issue. It is the fact that someone gets harmed by your actions That is what is important.... not your stupid ego and ignorance.

At some point in your life you are going to have to leave home, get a real job and do something with your life. Until then spare us the sanctimonious lectures on all you don't know about firearms, map reading, explosives, and firearms tactics or better yet join the folks that really are experts in the fields mentioned. There are a number of them on this board and I am sure they could use your expertise.

That was a nice sermon Bob. Do tell, what about all those MIL LE and civilians that carry and/or use loaded firearms all day without an ND. If a cold range is so safe there should never be an ND at an IDPA or IPSC match. Sadly that isn't the case, could you explain how your iron clad cold range policy is vastly safer than proper mindset and strict adherence to the fundamental four?????

I'm not quite understanding what is going on in this thread.....

Firearms without a manual safety are perfectly fine and safe. Glocks and Sigs dominate the LE market and they don't have manual safeties on them yet they are carried by thousands upon thousands of Officers every day without any safety concerns. If you want a firearm with a manual safety then fill your boots, but don't try and tell me or anyone else that firearms without manual safeties are unsafe, or that a firearm with a manual safety is safer because that is simply not true. The only thing that makes a firearm safe is the end user.

Cold ranges imho are silly. I follow the rules of cold ranges when I go to the occasional competition, but it doesn't make any sense to me. In IDPA they want to somewhat simulate carrying a firearm for a defensive purpose, which means you would be carrying a loaded firearm around in the first place so why don't they have a hot range, because that's what happens in real events. I personally believe that cold ranges are used to decrease liablility for the event organizer in the chance that some numpty breaks all 4 rules and puts a round into someone. Every course I've ever been on utilized a hot range because it speeds up the process and everyone there is responsible enough not to do something dumb.
