Did anybody else's M&P9mm come with 9 round magazines instead of 10?

The manual says 10, the side of the magazine has a eyelid for 10 and their website says 10 rounders as well.

I emailed S&W about this but received no reply (been 2 weeks.)

Just curious if I'm the only one that got screwed.

The kit actually came with a mag loader, all 3 of them are all stopped at 9... I am 6'0 200lbs and even pushing down on a table with all my body weight I can't get a 10th round in on any of them :/

The tenth round is hard to get in. With the ninth round in, you will be able to get the mag loader down enough to slip the tenth one in. It won't go all the way down but you will have room for the load. All four of my mags do the same thing.

With my 9th round in pushing down with all my might on the mag loader I can only get the spring to compress maybe another 1/8":confused:

I'll have to get a video of me trying it out see if I'm doing something wrong

Hmmm. Don't know what to say. Maybe leave the mags full up to nine for a while. This may fatigue the spring a little. Are you pushing the mag loader ramp all the way in before pressing down on the ninth bullet? The ramp should be making contact with the last third of the brass. Try wiggling it, rotating it, anything to get more purchase on pushing down the mag.

Leaving 9 rds in the mags won't help. Check out these threads:

The gun is called a M&P9 for a reason. Laugh2Laugh2Laugh2

(Guess I shouldn't laugh, I actually own a 9 Pro Series.)

Last year when I got my M&P and with 5 factory mags I got the same problem.

The mag will not hold 10 rounds. The follower legs when fully compressed will touch the bottom plate.

On one mag I cut the follower legs a little and 1 turn of spring. I can now put 10 but it is still nearly impossible to fully insert a mag on a close slide. Useless for me.

IT sucks.

After market mags I guess is the answer.

My M&P9 came with 2 mags and I bought 3 more factory mags and I have been able to get 10 rounds in all of them.

The first couple tries was tough, but it has to do with technique a bit too.

I use my off hand thumb to pre load the rounds in the mag and my strong hand to feed the 10th in. It's a bit tough, don't give up, just keep trying until you get it.

Whaaat? Is it nearly impossible to insert a 9 round mag as well? Could you please explain the difference? Not trying to be an a$$, I'm set on one of these for my B-day, and would like as much info as possible? Thank you.

I have four S&W 10-round mags for my M&P9, bought at different times, and all four can be easily loaded to 10 rounds by hand.

Maybe a bad batch got shipped by S&W?

No, I mean that I can now put 10 rounds easy with the little mod but it is still pretty hard to fully insert the mag with a close slide.

I also have the problem of inserting mag while slide is closed. Its close but doesn't want to seat. Like something is in the way. I don't feel like forcing it either

This is disconcerting to say the least. I've never heard of this before. Off to the amurican forums for this problem and/or fixes, back in a minute...

Okay, three different answers?
1) Break in period of double stack magazines-it happens with other brands as well?
2) Take a hair more off your follower.
3) Slam 'er home.

Does this happen with the magazine empty as well?
