The Shield is a best seller in the States as it is.

S&W is giving them away with rebates that bring the cost down to $230 US while a Glock 19 is still going to cost $500 US.

Firearms companies are hurting real bad down there its called the Trump Slump.

A 106 mm barrel shouldn't stick out too much as barrel is flush in stock 2.0. Compare with Glock 19 with a barrel that sticks out by 1mm or so even with 4" barrel.

Looks good. Makes me hate my Walther PPQ and P99 for being too big!!!!

Finally a 'regular grip angle' 15 round 9mm with same size efficiency as the Glock 19!!!

All they really have to do is put a M&P FS slide with a 4.25" barrel on a Compact frame to make their Compact Canadian legal.

The Beretta M9A1 Compact has a Compact frame sitting under a 4.25" barrel and slide.

The difference between the two (FS vs Existing Compact 4" barrel) in overall length is only 1/10th of an inch therefore the Canadian Compact would be only 1/10th of an inch longer.

Sell the guns up here for the same price as the Ver 2. Should be way easier than screwing around with an odd size pimple barrel. You gain holster comparability throughout the line. The gun would sell.

ps The gun would be IDPA CCP Division legal as well.
pps I talked to one of their Marketing types this morning and she said she would take it up with her boss. Who knows?

That would be quite interesting.

12.6 requirements is one of the most aggravating parts of Canadian gun laws for fans of snubbies and compact pistols

Did you mention that Glock is coming up with a Canadian version of the Glock 19? That might spur their interest.

I mentioned the fact other companies like Glock bring in their Compact models directly or through distributors using 3rd party barrels. She seemed interested in the suggestion and I got the impression she would put the idea forward. I suspect they are busy shipping out product to the American market right now. I intend to phone again in a couple of weeks to see if she has had an opportunity to act.

There is nothing stopping anyone reading this thread to make the call. Phone S&W and ask for their Marketing Dept. It can't hurt. Frankly I was surprised how little difference there is between the Glock 19 and a FS M&P when it came to overall length. I suspect most Glock owners compare the 19 with the 17 which has a longer barrel than the FS M&P. I know I always thought the 19 would be quite a bit shorter in overall length. Just a perception I had.

Aftermarket or a factory run of 106mm barrel would be ideal.
No threaded barrels, that would keep the length as short as possible. HK and Walther did the same thing with non threaded 106mm barrels.

The FS slide option is more expedient.

The FS slide is more convenient and less expensive. Remember we are talking <2MM and you don't have the pimple appearance.
