Also it was suggested earlier in the thread that picking up a restricted from the post office without an STATT is "100% legal"... this is completely false. By the letter of the law you must still have an STATT to pick it up, you may get away with it but let's just say if you admitted doing it while on the phone with the CFO they will be very friggin pissed with you... hardly "100% Legal". It's a 10 min phone call and restricteds should ship with a tracking number so it's easy to line up and it's always better to cover your ass.

I'm not defending the laws or saying they make sense. If you ask the CFO he will say yes you need a STATT and that defines whether it is law or not. Taking advice from someone on the net saying you only need to obey the laws that make sense to you is friggin insane.

I know when I called the CFO they stated that if you have a LTATT and the firearm is registered in your name then you do not need a STATT. But if I sell a restricted once the transfer is complete I do need a STATT to take it to the post office as it's no longer in my name. Perhaps a difference in provincial CFOs interpretations. They can't seem to get on the same page for anything, maybe they it on purpose.
