M1 Carbine questions

Just Reminiscing...

Back in May of '06 Terry asked what the chances were of finding any original US GI M1 30 carbines in Canada. When I moved back to the States in the '80s after 18 years on Vancouver Island, I sold Tom Bongalis, a BIG gun dealer in Vancouver, my collection of 29 different makers for something in the neighborhood of $50 each.

Lots of goodies with them like sealed canisters of 600rds in bandoleers with stripper clips, flash hiders, all kinds of extra mags of all sizes, etc., etc..

Only FIVE of those were ones I brought with me from down here when I moved to BC. Those I bought here through the DCM for $20 each! (no mag, no sling or oiler) I thought I was making a fortune when I sold out to Tom.

Oh well.... live and learn. Last one I sold down here - over 2 years ago - was a run-of-the-mill Inland and it went for just over $500. Times, they are a changing...

Gain some, lose some. Such is life. When TB passed away, his huge rare collection of guns were sold off at near fire sale price. So in the end, your M1s were all passed on to other good homes.
