M1 Garand issue and good gunsmith

BTW, I shoot light pussycat cast bullet loads in my M1 and have very few dented case mouths.
I had the adjustable gas plug, but got rid of it since the loads were mild.
If you want to shoot your M1 a lot, and who wouldn't, look into cast bullets.
With powder coating, good performance is possible with fewer headaches than we had a decade ago.

I put my M1 together from parts, but had a smith fit up the barrel. It helped that back then, I could get new or like new parts.

I honestly just wanted a M1 Garand and did not have the budget at the time to buy one for 2k+$. I did not know much about M1's and just made sure i had .30-06 everything. Now i know, and would do alot of buying/choices very differently if not just getting a complete rifle.

Fortunatly, while I have been building mine, I had some good advice from an experienced M1 Garand hobbyist. Canadian Garand builders definitely have different issues to look out for than Americans, so often chat boards aren't too helpfull.

The best thing to do it get a gunsmith to head space the barrel,
bolt and receiver
Pullin’s in Victoria does a very good job on Garand rifle’s
