M14 Barrel in 260 Remington

.338 Federal......I'm kidding (no I'm not)
.

Me too.... Been waiting a long long time now for McGowan to finish making the m14 barrels that Jerry(mystic) and I sent them drawings for over a year ago. Kinda getting the run around unfortunately.
The plan was to have them make other calibers as well.
.338 federal would be kick ass :D

Seriously .338 Federal will be a$$ kicking but did anyone has overcome the gas port issue yet for the heavier bullets?

Knowing the .458 win mag has been done on a Garand before .338 Fed is not that all impossible on a M14 but what about the cost?

If someone can produce some affordable barrels for the M14 in nice calibers 6mm BR, 6.5x47, .260 rem like the op said or even 7mm-08 I am sure will raise lots of interest.

Not sure why these things are not common knowledge by now. They are a must have for any M1A or M1 in my opinion...

You can also use a heavy op rod spring. A Sadlak grooved piston is also a good idea but I'm not sure if it reduces the overall pressure in the gas cylinder, just smoothens out the impulse.

For a fun gun, there is no reason to go to 260 remington where one is pretty much stuck reloading his own and going with a M25 LRB receiver

That is my M1A with 18.5 krieger barrel in full Vltor gear-thank you Thomas:)

What i do want this rifle to do, is have good ballistics out to 800+ with 1 to 1.5 moa capability, better if i can get it. Would be nice if i could do it from a GI contour. Lighter weight that way.

If I was building for accuracy in mind, I would start with a medium contour barrel. Of all the builds I've done, the rifles built with medium contour barrels clearly out perform 'most' rifles built to same level with standard profile barrels. Some may disagree, and that's fair.

Yah, I disagree! HEAVY profile barrel because your arms will get bigger and bigger is best! Just kidding! Heavy NM shorty from Krieger so that you can make selection for JTF3 :)

I just finished watching a series of Master Ken's Ameri-Do videos on YouTube! Go and watch them....

Shorty Barrel .... bull shzt
Standard barrel .... bull shzt
Medium weight barrel.... bull shzt
Shorty Heavy Krieger.... there are no weaknesses LOL

Hey, I just wanna bug all of you! The world needs to lighten up!

Cheers,
Barney
