My M305 Short rifle is onroute.I just wanted to know if an M14 Bayo has enough room to fit on it still? Also are the M6/14 bayonets usually wobbly?Cheers.Dave.

no- the handle of the bayonet is too long, and hits the gas plug when mounted- RUMOR has it that CAN-AM also has short bayonets to match- as fas as wobbly goes, yes, and it's a good thing- think of when you actually go "fix bayonets"- you want SPEED, ie draw from shelter, mount and click home- think of the mount as a groove - a little sloopy is a good thing as you want that groove to be as wide as possible for speed so you don't have to be perfect every time-if you want tight, you can add meat to either the ring or the sides of the mounting lug to tighten it up- there's also probably a shot about the difference between chinese( metric) and usgi bayonet mounts, but there's considerable slop in my usgi ones as well

Could someone tell me where I can purchase a normal m14 bayonet please? I would like to get one for my standard length. Thanks!

you're looking for an m6 bayonet-i don't think it falls under itar- i got mine 1 out of a gunshop- that was 75 bucks, but it had provinance and possibly nva/vc blood on the blade- or some gi cut hisself- the other one was 30 bucks out of numrich/gunparts- you also see them at gunshows, etc- the "cheap" good ones are made in germany( solingen) , and there's about 3 different us manufacturers, but like a said, you pay a premium for those- they all take the m8 shelter- DO NOT BUY THE M7- that's for the m16 series and has a WIDER ring and a different latching arrangement

Just google it, I got a non issued one still wrapped in oiled paper for about $45, but I can't for the life of me remember where. They can be shipped here, but it may be hard to find someone who will ship internationally.

Try KeepShooting.com. They carry the US M6 made in Germany that fits perfect on my Norc full lenght and should also fit on the shorty but not sure. The scabbard is a US M8A1 which they also carry. Last time I checked they still had a few in stock.

I think thats where I got mine too, and it definately will NOT fit a shorty, the gas plug is in the way.

Tx for the clarification, good to know. Guess the shorty was not made for a Bayonnet anyway. They look good on the full lenght model for show, but dont really have a practical application other than opening a few food rations if your stuck :)
Makes you wonder why they bother having a lug for the shorties? Maybe they have another model for them but never seen one.

To use the M6 bayo on the shorty you have to first commit to switching to a 'navy'style gas lock sight or something like the Dlask adjustable gas lock so you won't be using the sight on the flash-hider. Remove the FH, and reposition it so the bayo mount is now at the 10:00 position, above and on the left side of the barrel as you look down it.

I saw Machman put the Bayo on his shorty. I don't exactly remember what he did but I'm sure he'll put in his 2 cents soon. :)
