I was at the range yesterday and ran into a couple issues. First, the known issue of the oprod spring coming undone due to the gap between the aftermarket stock and the retainer pin. Will fix this using the popsicle fix or a similar alternative.
However, once I made a temporary fix - jammed an earplug in to fix the gap - I was having issues with the cycling. I was shooting cheap Norc ammo, and some rounds would cycle properly, others would have to be cycled manually. It always ejected the cases normally though. I just took the rifle apart and couldn't find anything that would suggest it could be the cause.
Another thing I noticed was that on occasion (I saw it only once, but didn't check each time) when it didn't cycle the next round, and I took out the mag, the next round had some discolouration on it, that I assume were caused by hot gasses emitted from the previous cartridge. I took a picture and will upload it in a second.
Here's the picture of a 'clean' round and the one in question.
Any ideas/suggestions?
