maybe, but you also have to define what level of m1a you're buying- the "bottom" end ones and the norc's are at least equal- when you start talking "national match" , super, and whatever else they're calling their top end guns these days( white feather comes to mind) , you also go up a considerable dollar-you can probably accomplish the same thing for less by using a stripped norc and having one of "masters" build one for you - and you'll have a better gun
THEN YOU HAVE TO HOLD YOUR END UP BY TAILORING YOUR OWN AMMO AND BECOMING THE BEST SHOT YOU CAN BE
it's going to take considerable time and effort on your part- lots of people have the idea they can go out and buy a tricked out gun and win bisley or the wimbleton cup- it doesn't work like that
and a lot depends on the gun- my first issue norc ( which is 100% stock)
shoots right with my springfield- but not as good as my trw
