M14 Hungry Barrie Clinic Sat 16 Jan 2010 Debrief here!

I found interesting how easy the tweaks are. Have to give them a go and see the results on the range. I'd recommend this clinic to any M14 owner. Well worth the time and price of admission. Thanks Hungry, well done!!

My thanks goes out to Hungry for taking the time and energy to put these clinics on.

To anyone who has an M-14..this clinic is worth every penny! It is well thought out and well presented. Hungry is an excellent instructor who kept everyone engaged. The course was informative, fun and useful to anyone who wants to get the most out of there M-14 rifle

Take care all and Thanks again!

Oh and if you do own an M-14 and you don't go to one of these seminars....Your #### Will Fall OFF LOL

I have a lot more confidence in my Norinco now that it is all tight and shimmed and my flash suppressor will not fall off.

This clinic was worth buying an M14 for. Maybe it will turn up at one of the matches in the summer just for a 'kick'. Thanks Hungry!

Thanks Hungry for a very informative day. Most entertaining too. Yes you will learn stuff you cant learn on the sticky's. Some of it not pertaining to the m14 right Hungry. And yes i wont be forgetting Kitty Kitty Kitty to soon. I learned that arms 18 and a set of low angle lock rings are a nice combo for scoping the m14. I learned that there isn't any substitute for having a bunch of other m14 owners and being able to see there rigs and how different tweaks were needed for each. And to be able to throw a few round down range after it was over was nice to. Thanks to the Barrie gun club for hosting and especially to the members that were there today that made me feel very welcome.

The best thing I did after getting my rifle was to sign up for Hungry's clinic. Thanks Hungry! It was so worth my time and travel.

Thanks also to the rest of you who showed up. Nothing beats a day amongst people who share the same passion. Loved the "whack a flash" session. :)

Thanks for putting on the course. You know your crap. You are like the Master Yoda of M-14's. It should be a manditory course for anyone planning to own a M-14. Great bunch of Gun-nutz showed up and everyone helped out one another. Thanks also goes out to I think, Robertii (something like that) for bringing his vice. It helped everone that needed flash hiders removed. I dont think it took more than 4 or 5 good wacks to get them off. Main Battle Rifle forum rules

Awesome, clinic. Enjoyed the presentation. For those who have an m14 this should be mandatory for you. Took the boomstick out today and whada ya know. It shot like a dream.....

Thanks Hungry - I'm so glad my #### wont fall off now... LOL! And if it does, a little shim should keep it rock steady! That was an awesome class and the lessons learned were beyond anything I could have imagined! Definitely will make it out to another class - and maybe a few shoots! Thanks again for the stock - EMT is on its way

Thanks go out to Hungry for another great clinic, I have been to 4 and everytime I learn something new, this time I was able to glass bed my M14 under his guidance, and it turned out GREAT!. I have attached pictures below of the rifle just after I tapped the action and trigger out of the stock.
I have yet to clean up the rough edges, that will be for tonite. His method was very easy to learn, once you have had a chance to sit at the feet of the master, I look forward to bedding my other M14 sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks again

Damn... we do great work! Now it's just a matter of cleaning up all the excess (non contacting) Devcon that has cured and has the potential to flake/chip off and comprise the trigger group's function! :D

Yesirreee Bob... you too can glass bed an M14 like a pro! :) Just come to my clinic and I will lead you with the finger of authority (only because I've screwed up many more times than all of you out there!)

Now if we could only hammer down/ confirm that 20 March 2010 date in Vankleek Hill GC for the Ottawa clinic.

I'm home now. Boy and I bushed! Major thanks all around go to these players:

* Busta Capp for organizing the Barrie Gun Club
* Barrie Gun Club executive for helping make this event happen and spreading the M14 love
* TacPro for the door prize of the cheekpiece won by Bushii 's buddy (who needed one anyways)
* Gothmog and M14 Doctor for helping provide me with their M14 Bolt tool to show everyone
* Tartan Tactical and Rauch Tactical for providing me with OpRod Spring guides to show everyone
* Greentips for being the super supportive Admin and owner of this fantastic CGN community!

Glad I could make it happen for you and all the 'Nutz.

We can do it next year :)

I'd recommend Hungry's M14 clinic to anyone who wants to learn more about their M14, particularly new M14 owners. The learning atmosphere is terrific and Hungry is a great teacher who keeps things moving along at a good pace, but always stops to thoroughly answer each and every question. You definitely won't get bored. Bring a notepad as you'll want to have reference notes for later because there's a lot of great information he gives out. The tips and hands-on advice for stripping the M14 will save a lot of time for the newbie owner.
I figure that the tips on tools, parts and upgrades that are needed/not needed, will save you at least $100., and the tips for doing things the "Hungry Welfare Method" will save you at least as much, because he's "been there, done that" before.
In addition to the above, it's great to get a guided hands-on approach to doing things like shimming your gas system, removing your flash suppressor, bedding your stock, tightening up your op-rod, and more, if available, ie: chopping, re-indexing your barrel ,etc.
Also it's great to see the different configurations of M14's. Chances are someone will have something you're interested in and most people don't mind if you have a look at their M14. Want to compare stocks? I was amazed at how light the new Norc/Poly composite stocks are. I also picked up a really good tip on setting up a scope mount, and saw how to glass bed your action (really sorry I couldn't stay for the whole thing).
It's also fun to be with a great bunch of guys who share your interest in the M14 and if you need help with something there's always someone more than willing to help out, lend a tool,or an extra set of hands.
9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.(roughly) for $35.00= $5.00/hr.:dancingbanana: I'd like to know where else can you get a deal like that?

Hungry
so are you telling me that you use Devcon 2 part steel epoxy as bedding compound?
If so that really good, as i can get that stuff dirt cheap in 2 ounce bars.

BBB:

I am sure as heck that there would be many CGNutter M14 lovers who would love to acquire a crapload of those small portion containers of Devcon Steel Putty/Resin! Can you point us in this direction or maybe make them available here? :D

Jamie:

Let me start a new thread about that.... I would be super interested on how the new 2009 Poly Tech plastic stock takes to different bedding materials...

After this clinic the young lads Norinco went from a 5" group shooter to 1 3/4" with just some of the no cost simple tweaks Hungry taught. These groups are from a bench at 100M and a scope with the same handload. Proof is in the pudding as they say.
