Trying to decide which one is the best to go for another build. Looking to keep rear sight.
Build is for hunting, therefore trying to put less weight as much as possible. Hope to hear feedback from you.
The lightest traditional over the receiver scope mount that I know of is the aluminum SADLAK mount.
After that, a set of ultra-lightweight rings and a small scope should be all you need.
Do you mind elaborate why would you go scout?I have been running the ARMS #18 for years without issues. That being said, if I was to do it again, I would go scout.
The Bushnell 10x Tac scopes are great on an M14 too.

M14.ca is coming out with a new ''long sight plain handguard'' that might be worth a look. You loose your rear sight but it looks like you could add a pair of BUIS.
The springfield scout mount might be your answer, its small, light weight and rock solid. I mounted a small leupold eer 4x and the balance was ok.I've seen it as well as NordArm one. However, I will use this rifle for hunting. For side mount, I've read about issues as it is sitting to low causing some stovepipes and other ejection problems. As for scout rail, what concerns me is that this will make rifle really front heavy.
