I'd argue that it's still pretty simple, notice the lack of tacticool colour matching furniture and rail panels, no fancy Larue or LMT laser-etched gear etc. Most of the components are USGI issue, which is pretty basic in terms of modularity.

Don't get me wrong its still a great AR. I have seen lots of photos of US troops in action sporting the M16's which are resembling your rifle in many instances.

I do admit that I was modelling my build off several M16A4's that I've seen in the field that I found very impressive. Hence all the issue gear.
