M1A or Norinco M305

Krieger barrel all the way.
Why take a gamble on an M1A standard? Especially since there is no warranty service for Canadians right now (as per my recent phone and email conversations with springfield on a CGN'ers behalf)

lol... isn't a norinco also a bit of a gamble?

Nope, not when CGN's main battle rifle forum members have yer back ;)
At least buying a norinco from one of our dealers comes with a 1 year warranty.
Canadian springfield owners should be aware that there is currently ZERO warranty support for your rifles. Don't believe me?
Call springfield yourself.
The horror stories I could post about this would surprise some folks. I'll simply say that the last guy that contacted me who recently had an issue with a new rifle... Went thru ALL channels to get warranty and ended up resorting to parting out his rifle.
And that's the truth, and he's not alone.

I have the norinco plinko already.
Do you guys know if the black feather will still fit with a medium or heavy 22" Krieger?

Well...difficult decision.

I like the idea of having the non-Chinese version, a real Springfield. No matter how I upgrade my norc I will always have that yeah but...and the price of a Krieger barrel, gunsmithing and new bolt and gas system maybe to do what? increase the accuracy of semi auto? But I also feel that the Springfield is overpriced...so like I said difficult.

I would probably just leave the norc as is, maybe add a boyds stock, spring guide and chrome spring and have fun with it as is. But that's just me...

Medium yes, heavy no.

I would also go with a Norinco plus Krieger barrel. The Norinco receiver is generally good quality and most will shoot with a Springfield Standard. The medium barrels can make a big difference in consistency be it a Springfield or Norinco. Just my $0.02.

In a lot of cases, though distasteful to some... All your norinco parts, ie: barrel's oprod guide, gas system (except gas lock), bolt ect can be kept when going with a short chambered match barrel requiring chamber ream/headspacing with your norinco bolt.
Done this many times for guys with excellent results.

Norc Warranty = the slew of CGN owners here in Main Battle Rifle forum

In all seriousness, someone from one side of this country to the other, is going to be able to help a new Norc owner out with any possible issues they might encounter. The stickies and search function are worth the reads for someone contemplating a Norc.

True, but to be fair the same can also be said of any Springfield issues (in the absence of a functional Canadian warranty service).

If it were me, I'd go for the Krieger barrel with no hesitation.

To "some" degree yes, but working on a springfield... Voids the warranty anyways. Unless you are a certified springfield warranty/repair outfit. Of which there are none in Canada at this time.

I'll add that Springfield owners in Canada are not alone in this connundrum.... Word from Lou at LRB pretty much the same story with LRB rifles in Canada. Both companies currently seeking proper distribution and warranty outfits in Canada.

Kind of a rock and a hard place situation :(

Dump the CHICOM junk and stay with the real thing, you would never regret it.

Unfortunately a USGI M14 is just not possible to own in canada outside of the prohib class.

I'd take a long hard look at a JRA rifle if I was in a M14 clone buying mood and wanted top tier, brand new in box with a meaningful warranty.
Or save yer cash till springfield (and LRB) have their Canadian warranty service locations in place.
My comments here are in no way reflecting any bias.
A high end rifle's warranty means nothing in it's purchase/selling value if it's not worth the paper that warranty is printed on. Springfield or not.
