Hey all.
I know remington lists retailers that can supply the M24a2 to civs, is it available in any appreciably easy way to canadian customers?

if not in an easy way, would questar be able to get them in?

thanks for any hot tips.

love, Derek.

With the DOS not allowing the export of 700Ps I seriously doubt an M24 of any type would deemed exportable.
The M24 system or even just the bare rifles are ridiculously overpriced from Remington. I know I can build an M24 clone that will shoot just as well and likely better than Remington built M24 but for alot less $$$. The only way to tell the difference between mine and the real deal is mine do not have "Property of U.S. Government" stamped on them.

You might want to contact a Remington Dealer have them contact Remington Canada Rep also these are not cheap try around $10,000.00 per rifle but wait that's not all for another $1,000.00 Remington will include there M.A.R.S. Rail but that's not for all this money on a M24A2 it is guaranteed a minimum of 1 MOA accuracy

Could you include that infamous notch for the stripper clip that will never be used??:nest::stirthepot2:

I do not think that the M24A3 comes with the useless stripper clip slot.
To the best of my knowledge only the M40s and M24s in 308 came that way.
The other thing that I see has changed with the A3s is the muzzle brake, not sure if we can get that 1 as I believe it too is considered a flash hider so is non exportable as per DOS.

I would have to work REAL hard to make a rifle that shoots that poorly, but I suppose I could do it:rolleyes:
Maybe that is why they charge so much for these rifles, a guaranteed inaccuracy surcharge:eek:

Rick the the only guns stamped with Property of U.S Government are actual U.S. Government property those that are sold to L.E.A's and others are stamped M 24

The only M24s or M40s I have ever handles were 1s owned by the US military, being as M24 like M40 and all the other things M'ed the M is a military designation in the US, much like almost everything I hear about in the Cdn forces has a C prefix added to it.
With that line of reasoning, would the M24s for LE or civie use not just be designated as 700? The 700 Police line is only marked 700, no P or LTR is mentioned on the actual rifle.
My understanding is that when Uncle Sam orders something the manufacturer then has the M whatever marked on it and the "property of..." is also applied.

I may be way out to lunch here however.

Personally I think Remington is using the M designations on stuff as a marketing ploy. The M24A3 on the surface looks like the 700P, in 338 Lapua, but with the longer barrel it was supposed to come with rather than the 24" barrel it in fact did come with, and some more overpriced options.
Maybe things have changed, having been out of the loop for over 30 years now,but the M24s and M40s I used way back when were not production rifles made by Remington, they were for the most part 700s with some Winchester M70s mixed in, that were hand assembled to specs by weapons techs employed by the US military.
As I say I may be all wet on this now.
However , I can build a rifle for less $$ that shoots better than the factory produced versions that Remington advertises.:sniper:
