M305 Bolt Failure

I think people are not fully aware of the issues and potential issues with these guns. The arguements for and against are good imho as it brings the issues to light and at least some awareness to what it really is you are buying. These are not properly QC'd in China. The issues with these guns should be of concern to anyone buying one, or anyone that has one.

Appreciate your concern, but I'm a big boy. Of the dozens I have seen over the years, none had have any significant issues.
I own and will continue to own one, regardless of what gets posted here.

It's just way too early to judge what happened. There are too many variables to arrived at a conclusive reason for the lug failure. Even I would not know where to begin because I am neither engineer, gunsmith , or metalurgist.... just a tweaker.

Stay safe!

Barney

The USGI M14 manufacturered at H&R in the early stages of there contract had a large run of bolt failure this was due to improper heat treating process done on the bolts .

So you checked the headspace, confirmed the receiver bridge is in spec, had the bolt magnafluxed, had bolt/receiver/barrel metal tested for hardness, on the dozens of rifles you have seen?
This is the typical 'norks are great' argument basically ignoring all the issues because the gun works....I'm not talking about the gun functioning, I'm talking about the gun functioning safely and all the steps the manufacturer should be taking prior to shipping it out. Some people obviously ignore this or don't care, my eyes, hands, fingers and life are way more important to me then buying some cheap Chinese knock off where many steps in the manufacturing process have been skipped.....even ####ing proof testing was skipped.....ridiculous.

Check the lug faces on the receiver and the bolt carefully. If one is worn more than the other then it is very likely that the lugs are not contacting properly. If that is the case, 1000 rounds before failure is pretty outstanding.

Funny if anyone blew up any other gun shooting hand loads I'm pretty certain what the responses would be. Yet here we have 7 pages blaming the gun.

I've put some pretty hot hand loads through my M305. Flattened and ruptured primers and a little gas in the face...

As stated, appreciate your concern, but I'll decide what's good for me and what's not.
Cheers

seems like good advice!

I have a 2009 m305 with over 2000 rounds that shoots 1moa , only upgrade is a USGI rear sight .. Best bang for my buck i ever got .. My experience is very good , but im sure there are lemons out there like with any product .. the Chinese made rifle lemon rate will be higher but its worth the gamble for the price ..

I have 420 rounds of Isreali TZ 80 ammunition I will sell you cheap. There are well documented cases of head seperation with this ammunition and I have decided that it is not worth the risk to me to shoot. Many people report having no problems at all with it. The lemon rate is quite high Boss but it may be worth the gamble to you for the price. You can load your Norinco and play Deer hunter.

So with regards to exploding Norinco M14s' due to it being made in China, does anyone know if similar cases have occured on other Norinco made rifles like maybe exploding SKS or exploding AR type rifles from China?

I just browsed thru the thread titles in the Red Rifles and Black Rifles forums (I did not look in on details) and it seems there hasnt been many problems, I could be wrong.

Lever Arms had some exploding Chinese SKS few years ago.....barrels were pressed in but not pinned properly. They had to do their own recall and re-pin them all.
Some nork 1911s kboomed in the pistol forum as well.
