M305 Newbie questions

Norinco is a marketing organization in main land China and did not buy the machinery when Springfield Armory closed, that was Taiwan which used it to make the type 57 i.e an M14 clone.
Wrong Wrong Wrong. For those of U that want to know google Norenco Wikipedia and the whole enchaledia will come up on Norenco. Norenco group is in mainland China that manufactures high tech weapons, crew served weapons, small arms and other various and sundry items used in war. The machine tools to manufacture M305 was sold to China not Taiwan. Yes this is more fun than a barrel of monkeys. The US currently has an embargo on the importation of Norenco M305 rifles from Norenco because Norenco sold missle related goods to Iran in 2003. These sanctions were imposed by the Bush administration and are still in place to this day. The folks in the US can not buy a Norenco rifle you can not take a Norenco rifle into the US even for a day to use in a match.

Did bush have a crystal ball to see all the way to 2003? Because Polytechs were banned from import in '89 by bush then the Norincos were banned in '94 by Clinton. By 2003 everything Norinco was banned but I believe the Norinco m14 was banned in '94. The 2003 ban mopped up the rest of Norinco's none military styled firearms such as shotguns, .22 etc.

The m14 was banned in '94 following the undercover sting on a clandestine Norinco deal with inner city gangs.

Pay attention

pay BETTER attention- the 305 is a REVERSE -ENGINEERED M14 from examples recovered from rvn and captured us troops-or dropped in the field- the us made machinery was sold to TAIWAN- not nationalist china- and it was WINCHESTER tooling that was sold , not springfield( government ) armory
we would see very few, if any , of those rifles and accessories over here- moreover, communist china was supposed to supply their m14s to Filipino rebels to confuse those rifles with Filipino government issue m14s at the time- however, the revolution came to naught, and chicoms were stuck with a quantity of m14s that they wanted to sell- after consultations with the us government ( batf) they decided to " civilize" these m14s by removing the funswitch and related components, and the bayonet lug- they also milled off the scope mounting hole at an angle of 30 degrees- these are the m14s that are currently in the states- however , the American producers of the m1a et al complained that they were being undercut by the Chinese, and that was the reason for the presidential ban, along with complaints that the Chinese product was inferior- soft bolts and other problems

Norenco must be that same company that makes ramington 870's and Calt 1911's , maybe they are affilliated with paro ordenance ?
I could do this all day but it's snowing and I got a jeep engine to yank out

Hello, I have recently acquired a M305 from Marstar, I am new to this type of rifle. I have not put any rounds through it yet because once when I racked it the bolt came off the op rod when it went forward. Does anyone know what happened to cause that?

Also I would like someone to go over the gun with me, does anyone know any M14 doctors in or around Edmonton?

I've seen that there are courses available to attend from time to time that teach you about the firearm, is there going to be anything like that soon in Edmonton (or even Calgary)?

I just want to learn a bit more before I take it out. I was (and still am) super excited about this gun but I'm feeling a little out of my depth.

Cheers all of you!

Wow this thread really drifted, lol.

I agree that the op-rod thing is probably just pulling up a little at the exact wrong time as you were pulling it back. If it jumps out of the rail while shooting at all then you've got a problem, but if it was just that one fluke then I wouldn't worry about it.

A really great resource (in addition to reading the stickies) is the excellent series of videos on TonyBen's Youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa9vbzHvKPvslKC2hCGjG0A

psshhhhh, everyone knows that Norenco makes best jeepe engines, everyone!!!!

No "I" on the keyboard.

I would carefully extract that jeep engine King O the ACP with the help of a mechanical lifting device. Because if you yank it something is going to give and it probably won't be that 258 six.
