M305-wood, synthetic, archangel, Blackfeather, etc

Until I can afford a new stock, I'm stuck with the synthetic my 18.5" Norc came with. I really hate the greasy/slick feel of that stock, so I put on a strip of grip tape on each side of the stock. It's still ugly, but much more functional now.

Those of you with the Archangel stock- happy with it? Issues?
 
I have an Archangel on one of my M-305's. It is a 22" model with a 20x Super Sniper scope. It is a great stock for scope use. My most used M-305 is an 18.5 " with original sights and a Choate folder. Great quad and truck gun.

Yes! Anything except barrels and receivers. We are lucky to have this American shop that cares about us north of the border.

I would like to compare my surplus side by side with a Boyds. Paid 150$ and has most metal on it, in excellent + shape.
Maybe Boyds are a bit nicer, but how nice do you need to go?
 
USGI fiberglass is wonderful.

Ghetto fix for the Norc plastic, $7.99 can of spray on truck bedliner. The further away you spray it from, the more texture you get.

I'd like to try out a Blackfeather, but I'm not buying one without shooting one first.
 
If I wanted to spend any further money on the 14 it would be carbon fibre stocks. Strictly to reduce weight.

Because I'm not going to spend another dime on these darn things it's modified USGI fibreglass stocks.

There's an idea. Some texture then paint over that since I want to turn it green. I assume it's like spray on cheapo version of rhino coat?
 
I love the Italian walnut stocks the best. They're extremely difficult to source in Canada, and very expensive to import, but to my eye none look nicer, and they feel terrific in the hands. :)
 
I love the vintage look of wood as well.
I've bought several stocks. Two from Boyds directly (unfinished, when they were on sale) and a complete Springfield M1A stock (made by Boyds, came with all the hardware) from Brownell's.
All the purchases went very smoothly and I received the items within a couple weeks.

Treelinem14 also sells some stocks to Canadians.

Here's my Boyds stock finished with 10 coats of pure Tung oil

The glossy sheen is just from the ceiling lighting. In the hand, it has a nearly matt finish
 
a little bit, in the area just under the windage knob so that the receiver heel sits flush, and fill in the inlet portion by the connector pin so that it doesn't slip out.

If you're in Alberta, I've got one sitting in my safe that's been itching to see some daylight. Soon as I get the bolt back together that is.

Hard to beat the look of Walnut complete with 1907 pattern sling. Looks like it needs some Neatsfoot oil. Found it at Home Hardware.

I think they're virtually identical. I've ordered both and the stock looks to be the same size and shape

When I ordered the SAI/Boyds walnut stock (complete), it was $260 plus extra costs. At the time, the max amount for Canadians was $500. I don't know if it's changed since.
