Oh, of course I'd go about it politely. I'll try and find an exploded diagram for the trigger group and have a closer look see before I take any action.
Help. Just bought a m305, safety does engage but if you pull the trigger hard enough,or jiggle it, the safety will disengage and rifle will fire. Thoughts?
Rifle passes all other checks
If all else is ok with the rifle I would keep it. This is a norc, you may just get a real lemon back if you return it. I have the same issue with my safety never could figure it out but it works perfectly when the rifle is out of the stock...I 'll figure it out someday. I decided not to return the rifle because everything else was top notch. I don't really ever use the safety on this rifle because when there is a cartridge in the chamber I'm about to shoot it.
The fix is pretty easy for the most part....the issue stems from dimensional differences in the stock that effect the trigger group/receiver spacing relationship. In 95% of the guns I have seen exhibiting this problem, fixng it involves milling/sanding out a small amount of material from the ledge on the bottom of the stock where the back end of the trigger group sits. The following photographs are of a SAGE stock, however it is no different on a USGI or wooden one:

For your rifle to be safe, the disconnector in your trigger group MUST catch the hammer when the trigger is fully depressed while the action cycles:

Good luck...

don't mess with it...... return it plain and simple, they sold you a defective rifle .
+1.
You have no idea what else could be wrong with the trigger group. It's not a question of whether you use the safety or not, it's that the rifle clearly does not function as it is supposed to. Bring it back.
THANKS!!!! wow I hope it works!
Yeah. I'm going to call them on Mon day and see if I can exchange it
