Maccabee Defense SLR information and updates

I ordered mine last year late July. I just got notified by TNA that my SLR receivers have come in. Small operations like MDI could be a start of something very good. I got burned by another Canadian company based out of Orillia that shall remain nameless, but at least i have control over the quality of the parts i am assembling the gun with

It's crazy that people are still waiting on their 2nd run pre-orders. I got my 2nd run in September, it was ordered that April.
The rifle was worth the wait for me. My serial number is low 300's and I never had any problems like others have described. That being said, I'll be selling the rifle (minus barrel/handguard/bcg/charging handle) once my two MS show up this August/September

I just put together one of non pre-order sets that CSC listed last weekend. Serial # in the 590s.

From the number of undersized holes I suspect that MDI needs to change their tooling more often and they absolutely need to do better post-production QA.

I had to drill out the gas tube hole in the upper and turn down the bolt catch pin to fit. Rather than open up the buffer retainer hole I elected to go without it. The mag well is also undersized but it accepts enough of my mags to be viable.

Mine was in the upper 400's and everything went together without a hitch, and no modification required. Chambered in 6.5 grendel. First 10 shots with it. Cant wait to blast a few more.
I have little to no experience with this type of firearm but maybe my mechanical background helped.

Had almost the exact same story with my non pre-order from CSC. Super tight pin holes (bolt release was tight but OK, but the trigger guard pin was a royal pain), had to drill out the safety hole on the trigger box and the gas tube hole in the receiver, but my buffer retainer hole was fine. The guys at CSC told me straight away that the trigger box would need the safety hole enlarged, but the undersized gas tube hole in the receiver was a surprise. The spare upper I bought will need to be drilled out as well. Easy to do, but they shouldn't have left Maccabee like that. The only mags that are tight in mine are the Heras that came with my WK, my Magpul and pistol mags all seem to fit perfectly and drop free.

My trigger guard and safety hole in the trigger box were fine. Sounds like the dimensional issues are all over the place.

They should market it as an 80% receiver. As in "80% of the dimensions are correct, but you have to buy a set to find out which ones!"

LOL......he is kidding right?
Lol of course. The early sets had some (Relatively) minor issues. Mine was one of those sets. It runs awesome now after a couple of tweaks. The new sets have those issues ironed out. But some people just love to #####, and their minds can't be changed once they're made up.

No, I wasn't.

When you have to get out power tools to assemble your receiver set..............

I can point out many posts in here that depicts power tool modified NR receivers or even restricted receivers by many owners. What requires using a power tool on the SLR? I'm curious.

It shouldn't need it. It's not in the design, it's the bad QA.

On the set I received, I had to open up the gas tube hole and turn down the bolt catch pin to fit the undersized hole. The buffer retainer doesn't fit in the hole either, but I've left it for now.

The CSC Video demonstrated opening up the selector hole based on the possibility of having a stiff selector, especially if the trigger pack is secured into the receiver with the torx screw, which is completely unnecessary.

The one I put together required the torx screw to keep the trigger pack from wiggling around making a weird trigger pull feel.

Mine had an undersized 'cloverleaf' gas tube hole diameter. I sent it back to be drilled out so a gastube could be inserted.
Came back with bare metal showing. I sold it for atrs set.
