Just got my reciever set 6## series serial number.

I tried to install my barrel today and it would only go in a mm or 2.

I noticed/felt on the inside of the receiver where the barrel slides in that there is a raised line:
you can see in this picture:

ive been advised to put the barrel in a freezer for four hours and to heat up the receiver and then try with tons of grease.

Would lapping the upper receiver also help with fit?

Are the marks normal?

Normal? It should not be. THAT is just very poor machining and non existent QC.
I can't see any way a lapping tool will solve that. I would mic your barrel extension to make sure it is within published spec and send that POS back to Wyatt with an ultimatum to replace it PDQ with set that is actually functional.

The only way Crapabee is going to learn to make decent stuff is by guys who get garbage product like this sending it back. Either he will figure out that producing garbage is expensive so best to do it right the 1st time or he will fold up shop and find some other venture where very poor to mediocre may be acceptable.

The question I would be asking is why would you need to put the upper in the freezer IF the parts were made within spec (assuming your barrel extension is) you would not have to fix it B.S. style. Normally a touch of moly grease is used on the extension and the barrel nut threads, no expanding or contracting of parts to get fitment is needed, at least on decent AR style rifles. SKS maybe, but not expensive an receiver set.

Ok I’ll order the wheeler lapping tool ,

Thanks

Be very careful not to exceed dimensions. The extension to receiver is a fairly tight fit.

I would follow another members suggestion and ask for a different upper tbh rather than doing it yourself. But its your call.

Anyone had an issue with the upper and lower not going together once they are built? I tried to fit them together with the trigger not cocked as we were supposed to but I still cannot get the damned thing to slide together.

Is the trigger housing module inserted down far enough. If it is not sitting flush at the top it will cause the upper to bind and prevent it from sliding together. If it is flush it could simply be the head of the hold down screw is sticking up slightly and catching the upper.

Other than that I don't know what to suggest. There's really nothing else that could cause it to bind.

You're not trying to slide the upper on from the front, are you?

Lol no I am not.

I’ll give the trigger pack a try. I did notice it is a hair proud from the lower so that could be the culprit

Good. 'Cuz that's what I tried the first time.:)

The trigger box is probably the culprit. And it can be finicky lining it up just right. Mine's a bit more of a PITA because I wasn't able to fit the buffer retainer.

The box should sit flush and the retaining screw too. If the box won’t sit flush, check to ensure the trigger spring legs are not caught under it.
