Correct punch was used and the pin was initially tight, but went in; halfway through the second hole it cracked the first half of the bolt-stop that we see above. Upon clearing the pin, there was excess anodized aluminum. I generally pre-clear the entrance of holes with a bit, but never thought to clear that deep.
I messaged Wyatt with the story and pictures and he was very prompt to respond. He had me mail back the assembly directly to him and his wife and mother ran into the post office to mail me a replacement within 24h.
