Maccabee SLR classification

IMHO, that wasn't a clause so much as an explanatory note?

I feel that a lot of the legal direction will be based on patent law. They may need to be careful, or there may be repercussions within the commercial patent industry.

Their OIC statement of going after additional property without justification, likely will not pass scrutiny.

I hope you are right. I do suspect the same that many of these firearms will be removed in time due to their seemingly liberal approach, no pun intended.

Were AR10s not prohibited at all before then? (01 May)

I suspect they were.

Original AR10s were select fire. Recently, all .308 ARs are considered to be AR 10s. The only difference between an AR15 and an AR10 is caliber. The earlier AR 10s were prohibited back in the nineties, just like select fire M14s and FNs.

So if it’s prohib. on the dealer/ verifier FRT, and non-restricted on the public FRT then my interpretation is that it can still be used as before but the sales have stopped.

I’m kinda glad I don’t own one but I feel for those that do.

Is this correct?

Completely wrong. It's prohib, so it can't be used. The public facing version states explicitly that it is not up-to-date.

I kindov read it as two categories. Variants. And modified versions. Everyone is quite right to point out the recent reclassification of guns like the Modern Varmint totally contradicts the RCMPs definition of a variant established pre ban. But now, i can see them claiming them as "modified versions" since that is a blatantly vague characteristic.

No. Not even close. The FRT is the RCMPs gun diary. Legally worthless, full of amusing anecdotes and hypothetical unverifiable nonsense. It is not law, never has been. NOthing about what any of the FRT says is legally binding.

Read the law yourself. Act accordingly. If you get it wrong, and get caught, and go to trial, a judge will tell you what the law is. Anything less than a judges ruling is just speculation, some of it wild.

How would one know its prohib if they do not receive any paperwork?

The judge will tell you at your trial when they make a finding of fact.
