Magazine clarification

The Remington mag is legal. The adapter was made for the 10/22 rifle only. Yes it can fit the charger pistol but was not made for that.
Also the Remington mag on its own will not fit the pistol so it’s legal to have it in your possession.
The same cannot be said for the butler creek mags even a 25rd mag all on its own is prohibited by the RCMP.
So not sure how to hey can charge you once you remove the mag it’s legal.
Also the adapter on its own is legal and when installed in the firearm would still be legal so if you now insert the Remington mag into the rifle how is that now prohibited. ITS NOT BECAUSE ITS NOT A BUTLER CREEK 10/22 mag period!

This is a topic that is difficult to understand because the logic behind it to begin with is flawed.

All you need to know is that for now both are technically legal, however you could be taken to court for one of them. You can make your own choice from there.

I personally cannot have any sort of legal issues in my profession so I must take the adapter route if I want more than 10rds. Hopefully this will be resolved in court or in the house at some point. Until then the 597 mags will have to do.

You just answered my post, backing up exactly what I said. Thank you.
They are illegal only in eyes of the RCMP, but not in reality because of what they were originally designed for.

So once again, my statements are accurate, and once again, thank you for providing backup to it albeit while arguing about it.

Your version of accurate differs from mine but whatever...What's wrong with just saying "Yes, they are legal"?

So I just want to confirm I'm good to go before going any further lol

I own a 10-22LR Ruger which is limited to 10 rounds ….check

Other brands are legal in 25 and 30 round magazines in LR such as Remington....

I recently purchased an adaptor for my Ruger that now allows me to use 25 and 30 round Remington magazines

This is completely legal right?

Thanks

NO.

25 round magazines for the Ruger 10/22 rifle are not prohibited. It is merely the RCMP's OPINION that the magazines are a prohibited device.

Your version of accurate differs from mine but whatever...What's wrong with just saying "Yes, they are legal"?

What have I said that is inaccurate? Neither device is actually made for the Charger pistol, yet they both fit. By RCMP interpretation, one is prohibited, one is not. By the wording of the law neither actually is prohibited or illegal? That's what I have said this whole time, yet you are fighting me saying the same thing?

Unfortunately you won't get that feeling with your adaptor & Remington mags in your 1022 .
Have you read the reviews ?

Yeah the adapter is a great idea but why adapt it to mags that don't run reliably by themselves, net alone adapted. From personal experience, the Remington brand ones are garbage, the BC's are garbage. I've read that the promag's aren't great either but have no personal experience.

The backgrounder sent out with the Ruger 10/22 mag "interpretation" advises officers NOT to lay a charge for an over capacity magazine in a 10/22 as a stand alone charge. They recommend only doing so as an additional charge - why is that important? Since the Crown can deal off the magazine charges, and they frequently do, having one more charge on the sheet gives them extra bargaining room. Does that sound like the lab believes they're on solid ground with this one? I didn't think so. What they are actually doing is intimidating the law abiding into doing what they think should be done. It's despicable, but hey, what would you expect from a low life like Murray Smith.
