Things I learned today:
1. Maglula is Israeli (explains the price).
2. The Maglula Benchloader (totally worth the price).

Mmmmmm... Got LAR? Got Beowulf? ;) Here's the shortest tutorial. And it's literally this simple. I would've posted another video but only Nut 'n Fancy can stretch a 30-second video into a 9-minute spiel...

Available through Brownells. And it's not on the restricted list, so shipment to Canada isn't an issue.

I played with these thermold dealies at a local shop, held 20 rounds with reasonable enough tightness to use as if like a stripper clip.

Pop it over a mag, push down till full, move it over to the next mag, repeat.

The only catch I find with those kinds of speed loaders, is the amount of time it takes to fill them up can mitigate the time saved from not loading the mag directly.

I have one of those Maglula loaders that snaps on top of the AR mag, then you flip the lever back and forth, I really like it.
Skips the middle man, Ammo goes straight from the box and into the mag in the time it would take to fill that loader.
Also, it can almost unload a mag faster then you could with the gun, hah.

Actually, now that I think about it, I think you'd be hard pressed to get ammo from the box and into the mag any faster with the bench loader then you would with the lever loader, making the bench loader a fail given it's price point. The lever unit fit a lot nicer in a range bag too.

Ah, but you have to see it in action... I also have some of the standard Maglula loaders (which are also awesome), but this works so much slicker. And yes, it is pricey. Did I mention it comes with a really nice padded case? ;)

Alright, here's the results:

Maglula Lula Loader: 34.41 seconds.
That's how long it took me put 30 into my Tapco.

Maglula Benchloader: 23.09 seconds.
As seen by the guy in the video above.

So :
Lula = 0.87cent a Second.
Bench = $18.70 a Second, hahaha.

You pay 402.05 to save 11.70 seconds.

Ah, this is all just for fun :p

It's be slick to have at home, if I had enough mags to hold all the ammo I'd shoot in a single range session.
Load them at home, and pack them out.

PS: Doubletap sells them for pretty much the same price.

I use a speedloader for my pistol magazines because it wears out my thumb but otherwise, I don't see the need for a magazine loader for an AR-15 with its 5 or 10 round magazines. You can easily push the rounds into the magazines and it doesn't take that long, does it?

We're up to 15-16 rounds. Didn't you get the memo? ;) Plus, as was pointed out - you can "queue" up 30 or so rounds (mine accommodates 33), load one magazine, then quickly load another.

Hey, I'm certainly not trying to suggest that the Maglula Bench Loader is portable or cost effective (even though it does come with a really nice range case!). I still like the standard portable Maglula for my range gear, but this will come in really handy when pre-loading stuff for the range.
